Walsh is a quality jockey but him not being on one doesn't put me off at all. Townsend is pretty good and Walsh has got it wrong before. Could he do his running in the first circuit? Of course but I can't let a horse go off unbacked at 5/1 when he's got more grade 1 victories than the field combined, the ground is to suit and he ran a career best last time out in my opinion.

Definitely a Brilliant horse over the years Un De Sceaux, but think he prefers a breakneck 2m in testing ground, think the extra half mile stretches his stamina. Like Road to Respect for the Ryanair myself, think Frodon might be the biggest danger, or Footpad if they can get him back to his best.

Backed Real Steel for the JLT as he looks to be improving and like Eptante for the Mares Novice so done them in a treble.

Also like Any Second Now in the last, and hoping we get one last great performance from Faugheen in the Stayers, which looks wide open to me, Paisley Park feels a bit similar to Sam Spinner last year, just can’t see it winning this despite not doing anything wrong this season.

I was mad keen on Defi Du Seuil for the JLT before it pissed it down. Wish they'd run him in the arkle after seeing what the ground will be like though. 2 miles 3 and a bit on that ground at Cheltenham will take some getting for a Triumph winner. They aren't all Tiger Roll ;D

1:30 - Really like Castafiore in this at the prices, she's a seriously underrated Mare and I've loved her progression through the season.

Wide open race so will join you on this one!

Anyone with any thoughts on today? Is Sir Erec nailed on for the 1.30 or is it worth backing something else?

Gold Cup looks wide open and I've not a clue who to go with to be honest.

Not been the best week so hoping for a lucky last day!

2:10 - Like Capitaine here, there wasn't much else that really stood out other than the fav who I reckon is too short. Nicholls has them flying too.

2:50 - Been all over Rockpoint for this for ages, exactly the sort who excels in this race and battered the fav over course and distance earlier in the season.

3:30 - I fancy Native River to retain his crown, I think if he gets into a good rhythym out in front they'll struggle to pass him. Presenting Percys prep is far from ideal and I'm still not convinved that CDO gets up that hill well enough.

4:10 - Three pronged here, jockeys always say they never go faster over a fence than the Grand Annual. I think plenty of experience is ey and course form goes a long way. Le Prezien I fancy to go close to retaining his title. Gino Trail ran a stormer in it last year and Bun Doran has plenty of course form to like. They'll all do for me.

Agreed that they must be grinning after some of those longshots. Luckily I had at least a winner a day, 2 on a couple of days.

I did have to back two or three horses in most races to achieve that though.

365 offer for the national is very interesting. Money back up to £125 on each way bets.

Joe Farrell has a shout IMO. In good form and won the Scottish National over a distance of 4 miles. Vintage Clouds is another to watch. I do think Tiger Roll has an outstanding chance but of course the odds are off-putting. If he is close to the front after the Chair, he will be very hard to stop.

Did you wager Codd this time Pete?

Had him in a double with Anibale Fly after hearing you go on about him a few times.

Was toying with throwing a score on him but decided against it. Fucksticks!

Oh yeah of course I was just looking at it from the point of view that you couldn't get two more different races  ;D

Agree about Elliot, you could see how much it meant to him.

Just to top it all off then Davy Russell is an absolute gentleman and a serious serious jockey.

Delighted for Sean Bowen today as well. Plenty more grade 1s in his future.

I know this generally seems like a jumps only thread but is anyone doing anything in the Oaks/Derby this weekend? (I know there is a slightly more significant event happening somewhere in Europe...)

Haven’t got a strong fancy in either but might put a little on Broome & Maqsad

They look like absolutely belting races. Top 2 in the market will probably take a mountain of beating in the Oaks but I like Manuela De Vega as a lively each way shout and my couple for the Derby will be Anthony Van Dyck and Bangkok. Broome is the one O'Brien principle that I couldn't have to be honest, I'm not convinced he's classy enough.

I do like the fav in the Oaks, was very impressive at Chester but Maqsad won just as well last time up and is just a bit more value. Strange how both the Derby and Oaks favs have both needed to be supplemented.

I can kind of see what you mean with Broome, he has seemed possibly in trouble in both trials, but I like the way he finds and is doing all his best work at the end of the race. With his neck 2nd in a Grp 1 last year and those 2 wins I think he has some of the best form in the race.
