Jordan Henderson

This lad's threads always end up locked but whatever.  He bounced back really well from his poor performance at Wembley.  Deserves some credit, particularly because he was playing out of his natural central position again.

Only positive, played very well today.
When discussing Dirk Kuyt's work rate :

I don't think he works as hard as some people claim. No harder, for example, than Stewart Downing.

18 League Titles and 5 European Cups. Get counting.

He needs to be more consistent for me to believe he has a long term future here. One week he's shite the next week he's decent.

They get locked because all that will happens is he will have an average/poor game and loads of halfwits will be back to calling him shit again. Same with basically every player we have who cost money.

Doesn't help that he's on the right wing one week, in the middle the other.

People seem too scared to pass to him, majority of his ball possession is from rebounds or interceptions.

The lad played well today. This is the sort of game for him to excel in - his high work ethic, clever movement and good range of passing endears him to the job of countering a technical, open midfield like Arsenal's.

He's 21 and an archetypal "nice kid." If he can't get his confidence and consistency sorted by 23, then we can worry. I see a lot more positives than negatives in terms of potential at this point.

That is what I want to take from today because the result was so awfully predictable that my head is just done. But despite that I was very pleased with Jordan today. He knew he had a stinker at Wembley, but he bounced back nicely today. Very positive play. And the inconsistency is part of being a young player. He seems like he has a brain in him, so I peg him to keep improving.

He was great today.  I really love his style of play...so very slick, hardly looks English at all.

He reminds me of Lucas, but has better technique than he did at that age.  Big future ahead of him.

Could have slotted that chance in.But then, with the amount of game time he gets,he simply is bound to get a good game in sometimes.I hope it can be more often.

That was infuriating.

A central midfield playmaker should have excellent awareness and vision - I like Adam but sometimes, he doesn't seem to have a clue what is going on around him and that is a cause for concern.

He was very good today, some excellent crosses which Carroll would surely have thrived on. I think Henderson should be exempt for a lot of the stick he's getting, for a start he's young but he's also been moved around excessively. I think he's shown up quite well over all, whether that means he should be starting as often as he does is another matter.

A cause for concern? That's a fucking understatement, he's supposed to be our playmaker, at the very least he should know what's going on around him. He absolutely fucking murdered that chance.

Henderson just needs time, you can see plenty of good things in his game, playing games and gaining experience will iron out some of the bad, once he starts to feel comfortable and confident we will have a good player on our hands

I'd be hoping for more than that. If this club is serious about moving up then we need a top quality partner for Lucas, Henderson for all his promise is not that yet and I doubt will be for some time. We need to spend to strengthen in midfield, and spend significantly it seems.
