so is this some kind of 3D modelling thing. So my question is what will you do with it if you are not using it for business ??
It's a CNC Router that is capable of machining in 3D, yes. I do a bit of welding, fabrication, and carpentry in my spare time, this helps with repeatable precision when I need to make jigs or whatever from aluminium or whatever material I happen to be working on. This also helps take up the slack of several machines I don't yet have in my shop due to work area constraints. On this one I've made all sorts of things from chessboards to cutting boards all the way to aluminium bike sprockets... all for friends and I usually only charge for materials. Using other machines I've done sculptures over 7' in height for the college I work at.
Next big project is guitars though, already have several that I've designed in software, just waiting for a tear down and rebuild/upgrade of the machine to really dial in the accuracy a bit better... doing that after I (hopefully) post in here in about a week showing my next purchase... Also in the process of building a 4th axis attachment so then I can do 3d items in one go (like chess pieces or custom table legs) instead of gluing together multiple bits after milling.
As far as business use goes, I'll probably never get to the point where I desire to make tons of stuff and then cart it around to festivals or whatever for sale, but should the guitar making prove fruitful, who knows? People pay looooooooads of cash for for quality boutique instruments.
