Even if we lose the next game that will probably still stand as the greatest run of form by the time we are all dead and buried.
Crikey, I suppose that’s probably right.  We could be talking a Dixie Dean style record here.  He also had to overcome Some Guy breaking records the year before he hit his 60, but nobody really remembers Some Guy now.

We win this weekend, and Everton cannot catch us mathematically.  Three more wins, and Utd can no longer catch us - obviously fewer if they drop points in the meantime.

So no team has gone this far without a downward slope on the APLT. man city got to 19 or 20 games before dipping two seasons ago. I’m assuming the invincibles had a dip or two, but that was before APLT.

I think this is probably the best thread to post this in.

The graph below shows the rolling 38 game points total for both Liverpool and Man Utd since Solskjaer took over from Mourinho, and I've also added the trend line for each set of data.

They are almost a perfect mirror image, beautifully illustrating rise and fall in perfect harmony.

And from a numbers point of view, how about the fact that after 10 games of OGS in charge they were within 8 points of our 38 game total, and now just 34 games later that gap is 51 points!

If you would have told me 7 years ago that in 2020 Man Utd and Liverpool would have been separated by 51 points over 38 games I would have assumed that it meant we were about to be relegated!  Oh what a time to be alive...

No team has ever gone through a season with a 100% win record at home which is necessary in order to have an APLT without a downward slope. That has never happened. The only team to do it in top flight was sunderland back in 1891-92 when we didn't even exist and they only had to win 13 games at home.

The longest unbeaten starts for all teams apart from Us (this season and last) and City (2017-18) are all under 19 games except for United, who went 24 unbeaten from start in 2010-11. However, they drew to West Brom at Home in game 8. Regardless, that guarantees that we now have the longest APLT without a downward slope in the Premier League era.

The next best in the premier league era I think would then be Chelsea 2005-06 who went 11 games without a dip before losing to United in the 12th.

It's a pity that this thread is missing Sheffield and Wolves... I think that there is a good chance that Sheffield will be 4th at the end of March (when we win the league).
This is coming true week by week. I know that most of you see this as a joke, but Sheffield have the Cherries and Brighton at home in the next two games. I'd think they've done more than United to earn their place in the APLT. It would be unwelcome extra work, but is the any chance to include them, Prof? If not now, maybe after the next two games?
