Naby's played a large part of his career as part of a 2

Not in the Premier League and not in our system though. That's my concern. It's the unknown aspect of what we'll get from him. I think he's struggled at times with the pace and physically of the Premier League in a 3 man midfield. In a 2 I'd be concerned that it could leave Wijnaldum with a huge amount to do if Keita has a game where he's on the periphery of things.

If we go with him there then I won't be crying about it. Klopp will have a better idea of Keita's suitability to play in a 2 man midfield. Probably from the things he's seeing training. It just wouldn't be my preferred option from what I've seen this season.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

I’ve never been very keen on matip but he played well for those couple of games next to VVD so I’m looking forward to him being back.

Matip being fit for this would be a huge boost. If he is we can get Fabinho back in midfield pulling the strings.

Wijnaldum / Keita should be a totally natural very high level double pivot
Naby's played a large part of his career as part of a 2

Milner on the other hand should never be part of a midfield 2

Yeah, absolutely no reason not to play a 4-2-3-1 and have all 4 of Shaq, Mane, Salah, Firmino playing along with a double pivot of Keita and Wijnaldum.  Sounds like Fabinho has to play as a CB again and Milner should never, ever, play in a midfield 2 again.

I would think Klopp will hold him out until next week.  It's not like we are playing an incredibly difficult team here and Fabinho in the back line again should be fine.

Think Matip will be held back as well. It'd be a risk to play him I think, could get injured again very quickly if rushed back but we'll see. If Klopp plays him, I imagine he believes he's fit as he's not one to rush players back as soon as he can.

Klopp: "If Fabinho has to play as a CB, we work on that on the training pitch. But we try not to make it more complicated than it is."

I wonder if he's talking about the way he wants Fabinho to play as a CB or the team meaning that if Matip is fit they will start him right away.
Messi in fact doesn't have a recognizable trait.

I think Mo wins this for us (the whole thing...)

That picture of the Man City players celebrating at full time and him in the foreground just looking....vengeful has just got me pretty confident.

Does anyone have a link for this please?

Remember thinking City looked very worried the last ten minutes and then ecstatic with relief on the final whistle. Thought it was quite illuminating

Truth probably lies somewhere in the middle I guess..
He's hoping for Matip to be fit to play tomorrow, while confident that Fabinho can do a job if required without much fuss..

Fabinho looked alright leading the defence against Wolves, so I think next to VVD he will do just fine. I was happy to have a little break from footy (I'm pretending that Wolves match just didn't happen) so excited to get back into it now

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

After the city result this is a match that now becomes very important, we need to show we can take the hit and fight on with a victory - I'm certain all of the lads will be thinking this tomorrow and will not take Brighton lightly.

An early goal for us would be helpful but I will take any positive result, yeah 0-4 would be great but a 0-1 and three points is very acceptable.

Their home record is pretty good this season. Seventh best in the league.
P10 W5 D3 L2 GF15 GA11 18pts

Of course, our away record is alright too. Second best in the league.
P11 W8 D2 L1 GF22 GA7 26pts

Conclusion: This robust analysis of the data tells us that Firmino will score first, then Shaqiri with a banger. Liverpool win 2-0.

For me we need to control the midfield immediately, they will probably go with some form of 451 for this certainly to start the game and keep it tight. So our midfield will be key when in possession, picking the right pass, timing etc could well be the difference to unlocking them or not. I don't think they will fall into the trap of us inviting them on us from (our back 5) so we need to box clever, score first we may get a few but scoring first is going to be massive tomorrow as Brighton would need to open up if we score first, where as if they  score first they will undoubtedly remain rigid in their initial shape.  A Tough game awaits us at the Amex but our lads are gladiators they will fight and work, plus they can play a bit  too. ;)
3-1 Liverpool- think we will score first despite it being tight in the 1st half, we will out pace them in the second half.
