The Blizzard just did a Greatest Games podcast on this with Jonathan Wilson and John Brewin (great to get a manc on this).
Wilson talks about writing a thousand words on the first half about Maldini and Milan's dominance, thinking he'll write 500 words on the second half and job done. Then he said that the moment that the Gerrard header went in, he turned to Paddy Barclay and said 'they've won it now' and deleted every thing he had written from the first half

It's mad that journalists got the same feeling that we got.

I'll never forget the half-time conversation with that concrete column and the selling of ones soul. I hope I get chance to meet that concrete column next year and see how he's getting on and give him one final kiss and say goodbye.

Mad to think that the first group game was nowhere near a sell out. Think there was only 33k at it. Was great nonetheless although a little nervy until Baros came on and scored. What a European adventure that season was. We should never take them for granted. I expect the gap between our next victory will be less than 14 years.
