Absolutely incredible that Higgins has blown this. Fair play to Robertson, most would have given up at 9-4 down.

Love the class shown by Robertson describing his win. No false modesty, but also a recognition that at crucial moments, the balls were kind.

He’s a class act on and off the table, and he’s a credit to the game. Snooker, like golf, by and large is played in a truly sportsmanlike manner, and I for one am grateful for that.

Good week of snooker, wish I'd had a fiver on Robertson because thats some comeback from 9-4. Higgins lost a final about 7 or 8 months ago and was questioning himself as runner up if ''he still has it to win'', I wonder if hes going to bow out a la Hendry at the Worlds.
Well played Robertson, it aint over till the tenor hits the high notes. Who got the big break prize, I know O'Sullivan was leading with just 131 but I expected that'd go.

Fuckin hell, like me you mean!

I had a mad a busy day, so at 9-4 and Higgins at the table I turned off and called it a day! Just seen this thread, thought it would be praise of Higgins, did Higgins fall apart, miss any sitters to clinch it etc? Can't believe I missed this comeback!

One of the biggest chokers on tour now, when it comes to finals.

He's been in superb form the past couple of years, but has won hardly anything.

I was hungover so only seen bits of it and had an early night. Higgins can't win anything at the minute. Might put money on him winning at the crucible.

Any tips for getting tickets for next year

What ticket to avoid or good to get

or if there is anything else to do in Sheffield, I am turning 40 next year and going to the crucible is on my bucket list, I might even take in the final, going for a night or two, i would go on my own if i had to

commonly held view but it just isn't true. it was more popular, sure, but the general standard of game these days is far higher.

Well I watched both and I see it as quite apparent that it is

O’Sullivan has played at the top in both and is far more qualified than either of us to comment and this is his view:

“If you look at the younger players coming through, they’re not that good really.

“Most of them would do well as half-decent amateurs, or not even amateurs they’re so bad a lot of them.

“A lot of them you see now, you think, cor, I’ve probably got to lose an arm and a leg to fall outside the top 50”

There’s no prize money for first round losers, which is bad really. In other sports, e.g. tennis, all professionals are paid for their participation.  Even qualifiers.

There’s snooker players having to borrow money to participate in tournaments and then being out of pocket if they lose in the first round.

Barry Hearn says he doesn’t want to subsidise mediocrity, but every player with a pro card should be paid. Surely that would mean players could afford to train more and not have other jobs to fund their pro career.

he's a fantastic player (obvious) and his punditry on eurosport is decent, but o'sullivan regularly comes out with absolute shite.

the general standard of potting and break building is better now than it's ever been. it is however seriously lacking in youth other than the lads from china of which there are many.

Definitely, on both counts. O'Sullivan regularly talks guff, so much so, it's easy to switch off from it. The standard these days is so high, that O'Sullivan and Higgins are still there at the top is testament to how great they are rather than anything else.
