2008.

How has the season been shaping up so far?

Romario:  We started quite well in Utrecht but after that game we played not well against Sparta (1-0), Atletico (0-3) and Volendam (1-0)
We received the points in our leauge, but we played not well.

Nilis:  We're second in the league with 9 points out of 4 games, but we haven't been playing well at all, so I'm not too happy so far and I'm afraid we will lose matches against better opponents if we keep playing like this.

Max:  The season started late in Holland because of the Olympics so we have played only 4 matches. We won 3 but not convinsingly.

Smash:  As said before, we started with a fantastic 5-1 away win at FC Utrecht, but as it seems now that result had more to do with the weakness of the opponent. Right now PSV isn't in good shape.

Richardo:  Average results, very bad football

What are your expectations for this season?

Romario:  I expect that we will win our 5th title in a row.
Maybe we get to the second round of the Champions Leauge but that is an illusion. I hope we can play in the Uefa Cup during the season.

Nilis: I always expect PSV to win the league. We probably don't have a good chance to advance to the next stage of the Champions League though. I Hope we can finish 3rd in our group and play UEFA Cup.

Max: We should play for the title every season, a 5th title in a row would be very nice.

Smash: Together with Ajax we'll probably fight over the 1st position. AZ Alkmaar currently seems to be having a comeback but to regard them a potential league winner is a little premature. Personally I think we'll beat Ajax in the end.

Richardo:  5th time in a row the Dutch champion

And your new signings? Are you pleased? How are they settling in?

Romario:  Some are playing well. Our new player Amrabat is the best signing, quite quick and a good technique. Our defender from France is also a good player for our league. The other players are doubtfull.

Nilis:  I always expect PSV to win the league. We probably don't have a good chance to advance to the next stage of the Champions League though. I Hope we can finish 3rd in our group and play UEFA Cup.

Max:  Isaksson, Brechet and Amrabat are all decent players althougn Brechet has had a bit of a melt down lately. We have yet to see Maza and Manco in action.

Smash:  Amrabat is a versatile attacker that combines speed and strength, but he's rather inexperienced. Manco is a supertalent from Peru but as of yet hasn't played a lot (but we expect a lot from this forward). Nijland is yet another young talented forward. Brechet is an experienced French defender but he seems more like a midfielder to me. Haven't made up my mind about him yet. Maza is Mexican-capped central defender who seems quite solid to me but needs time to adapt to European football I guess. That's about it.

Richardo:  Isaksson -> Okay
Brechet -> Started well, but played a horrible match against Atletico Madrid
Amrabat -> Fantastic player

Who are your most important player(s)?

Romario:  Our best player is Ibrahim Afellay. Young player with a great technique and he is very quick. Other important player is Tim Simons, our Belgian Midfielder.
Our defender Dirk Marcellis is our best defender.

Nilis:  Afellay is our creative midfielder. He has the ability to score or create chances when you least expect it. Simons is an experienced defensive midfielder and our captain.

Max: Afellay is our Gerrard. We loose a lot of creativity when he doesnt play. Our central deffender Marcelis is developing into a top player and our wingers can potentially become top players.

Smash:  Afellay - enormous talent but still very injury-prone. He probably won't play tomorrow. I can't think of any other player that's important at the moment.

Richardo:  Ibrahim Afellay is the best player in the Dutch league, but he's injured and won't play tomorrow. Simons is very experienced (Club Brugge/PSV/Belgian National Team) and is our captain. Dirk Marcellis is an amazing defender. Almost everyone is wondering why he isn't player for the Dutch National Team.

Your worst player(s)?

Romario:  Worst players? I would say: Lazovic, Koevermans, Zonneveld and Cullina. I have my doubts about Maza and Pieters our new players in our squad.

Nilis:  Our backs (Kromkamp (rb), Pieters/Zonneveld (lb)) and strikers (Lazovic and Koevermans) are terrible. Pieters is still young and could become a decent back in the future but he isn't quite there yet.

Max:  I would say Edison Mendez qualifies right now.

Smash:  Of those who regularly play: Culina (no good), Mendez (better but no good either), Koevermans (disappointing at the time).

Richardo:  Koevermans and Zonneveld. You are lucky. Most people don't know why, but Koevermans is our first striker. So most of the time we are playing with 10 players instead of 11.

Do you have a particular memory of any previous meeting between our clubs? And was there a decision you disagreed with?

Romario:  I don't have a particular memory obvisously. The red card of Dirk Marcellis at his debut at Anfield was a bad descision of the ref.

Nilis:  No positive memories here.. We can't seem to beat you and the decision to send off Dirk Marcellis on Anfield Road was terrible of course.

Max:  No, Liverpool is a club that have not impressed us but will win most games in the end. Not exciting football, but a few players that are a class act. (Gerrard, Torres)

Smash:  I remember attending PSV-Liverpool like 2 years ago which ended in 0-0 with Arouna Koné (wish he hadn't left us) hitting the bar in 1st half and Gerrard hitting the post in the dying seconds.

Richardo:  I went to the groupmatch in Liverpool two years ago. However both teams were already qualified for the next round, it was an amazing happening. The stadium is great, the supporters are great. Too bad I've got money problems, so I can't go to the match tomorrow.

Any young up and coming players in the squad that we might not know about?

Romario:  Our coming players are: Marcellis, Amrabat and Dzudszak.

Nilis:  Again: Afellay. He's an unbelievably good player who's definately going to leave us at the end of the season for the likes of Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc. And someone else I've mentioned before is Dirk Marcellis. He's a talented defender.

Max:  Afellay, Marcelis and Amrabat.

Smash:  Marcellis is on his way to the Dutch national team (i.e. that's what everybody says). He seems like a very bright and even-tempered kid with just the right mentality to succeed as a central defender. Personally I'm a fan of Otman Bakkal, but due to our new coach and Bakkal's participation at the Olympics he isn't a starter anymore (a shame if you ask me). Both are important players for the Dutch youth team.

Richardo:  I don't know how much you can see of our league in England, but players that are coming are Dirk Marcellis, Nordin Amrabat, Balasz Dzsudzsak and Reimond Manco.

What sort of line-up will be put out against us?

Romario:  Koevermans, Amrabat, Bakkal, Cullina, Simons, Mendez, Salcido, Brechet, Marcellis, Kromkamp, Isaksson.

Nilis:  Probably a very defensive 4-2-3-1 formation. 4 defenders with 2 defensive midfielders in front of them and another defensive midfielder (mendez or culina) in front of them.

Max:  I expect a 4-4-2 with Koevermans and Bakkal up front.

Smash:  Don't know, Huub Stevens is still messing around with it.

Richardo:  I guess it will be a kind of 433-system. Maybe Culina will play instead of Dzsudzsak. Then it will be more a 442-tactic.

Do you have any favourite/best chant(s)songs and perhaps any that require an explanation?

Romario:  Yes we have you will hear them Wednesday.

Nilis:  We have a song in which remember great players who played and staff members who had a contract here in the past. Examples of these persons are Romario, Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooy, Cocu and Guus Hiddink. I personally like that song, makes me proud of PSV.

Max:  Ooh Fritsje Philips,
Lucie Nilis,
Romarioooo,
Coen Dillen, Willy, Cocu, Van Nistelrooij,
Van Raaij en Guusje Hiddink, PSV wat ben je mooi!
All our club Icon's named in this song.

Smash:  Dunno.

Richardo:  Oh Fritsje Philips
Lucie Nilis
Romariooo
Coen Dillen, Willy, Cocu, Van Nistelrooy
Van Raaij en Guusje Hiddink
PSV wat ben je mooi.

That are some of the greatest people from our history. The song is the same melody as you are singing this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BZ320QOuWA

Where do you expect yourselves to finish in the Ere Divisie, and Liverpool to finish in the Premier League?

Romario:  My expectations:
PSV will be the numer one in the Eredivisie.
Liverpool will finish on the fourth place after Man utd, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Nilis:  As mentioned above I expect us to win the league.  I expect Liverpool to either win the league or be the runner-up.

Max:  We will end in the top 3 and hopefully we will celebrate the 20th titel this season. Liverpool will end iun top 5 but not first.

Smash:  1st, I guess Liverpool will do better than last year but probably won't win the league.

Richardo:  I think we will be the best again in the Netherlands. I think Liverpool will be 'the best of the rest'. I think Manchester United and Chelsea are too good for you.

Which Liverpool player will you fear the most?

Romario:  Deffenitly Gerard, worldclass player.

Nilis:  Steve Gerrard and Fernando Torres

Max:  Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres

Smash:  Torres, he's a bit like Aguero of Atletico who made our defense look like total shit 2 weeks ago.

Richardo:  Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, both players are absolute worldclass players.

Care to predict the score?

Romario:  I hope that we will win but the chance to win is very small.
I think that Liverpool will beat us with 3 to 0.

Nilis:  You'll beat us 3 to 0 I'm afraid.

Max:  1-1

Smash:  The best possible result for PSV would be 0-0, but I guess it'll be something like 3-0.

Richardo:  4-0 if we're lucky. This PSV has no chance against Liverpool.

Thanx once again Romario, Max, Smash, Richardo & Nilis.

I left out a very important question  about playing them in Istanbul oh well another time maybe. ;)

Well done Lyndsey, excellent read.

They seem a good bunch, but I hope they're right in predicting we'll thrash them. Surprised to see Kromkamp one of their worst players though!!!!!!! Ok maybe I'm being tongue in cheek with that comment.

3 more replies.

How has the season been shaping up so far?

Domstad:  It started well with the 1-5 against FC Utrecht, but after that it was awful. 1-0 win against Sparta.. 1-0 lose against AZ, and 1-0 win at FC Volendam.
I mean come on, PSV can do better, much better!

santheman:  We started good but things started going downhill from there. Resulting in a loss at AZ and a small victory at home to the leagues worst side.

Lemp:  9 points, four games, rubbisch football.

What are your expectations for this season?

Domstad:  We will end up first, as usual .

Santheman:  I dont think we are going to be champions for a 5th in a row. There just not enough quality around...

Lemp:  Champions, when you have 9 out of 4 with rubbisch football you'll be the champion.

And your new signings? Are you pleased? How are they settling in?

Domstad:  Nordin Amrabat is a good player. Isaksson also, but i like Gomes more..

Santheman:  Isakssons (keeper) is doing alright.. allthough he aint Gomes...
Brechet (defense) hasn't convinced me.
Amrabat (Forward) still needs to grow but thats allright he has got time, he's one of the youngster for the futre
Pieters (defense) same as Amrabat allthough I have my doubts if he can become topclass!
Manco (Forward) another youngster.. hasnt had much playing time yet
Mazza (defense) seems destined to warm uo the bench...

All in all.. not pleased at all at the moment...

Lemp:  Not world class. Good enough for Dutch League, but that's it.

Who are your most important player(s)?

Domstad:  Timmy Simons
Ibrahim Afellay
Dirk Marcellis
Carlos Salcido

Santheman:  Afellay without a doubt.. he aint world class yet.. but he is getting there! and Dirk Marcellis "the next Jaap Stam"

Lemp:  Afellay (injured at home); so we don't have an important player anymore.

Your worst player(s)?

Domstad:  The frontline at the moment.

Santheman:  Where to start...  I'll go for Jason Culina

Lemp:  Zonneveld, Pieters, Kromkamp, Culina,...

Do you have a particular memory of any previous meeting between our clubs? And was there a decision you disagreed with?

Domstad:  The red card from Dirk Marcellis and after that the Liverpool fans clapped their hands for him, it was very nice!

Santheman:  Last time we met we didnt have a chance at Anfield! And it will be no different this time.. maybe even less chance! The red card for Dirk Marcellis last time was not deserved.

Lemp:  . You play not that spectacular, and in the end you've won.
(No problem with that; "they" say the same about us in the Netherlands, but at the end we're the Champions...)

Any young up and coming players in the squad that we might not know about?

Domstad:  I hope Reimond Manco let's see he can play football.

Santheman:  Afellay, Marcelis, Amrabat, Bakkal and Dudzezak.

Lemp:  Afellay, Marcellis, Amrabat

What sort of line-up will be put out against us?

Domstad:  I hope we will play not to much in defense, i like football the most when there is much action.

Santheman:  I expect a 4-3-2-1 with Koevermans as the lonely guy up front and mostly defensive players in the rest of the team.

Lemp:  Probably a 4-2-3-1, with one striker.

Do you have any favourite/best chant(s)songs and perhaps any that require an explanation?

Domstad:  You will here them tomorrow i guess.

Lemp:  http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=WYR8zVJ9pFs&feature=related

Where do you expect yourselves to finish in the Ere Divisie, and Liverpool to finish in the Premier League?

Domstad:  We will end up 1st and i hope that Liverpool will finish 1st to!

Santheman:  I think we will become second or third... and I dont realy care where liverpool ends up as long as it is one place beneath Everton

Lemp:  We: First.
Liverpool: 4th. In a way you don't like the Premier league. The PL is for ManU, Chelsea and Arsenal. But in Europe...

Which Liverpool player will you fear the most?

Domstad:  Fernando Torres

Santheman:  Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres

Lemp:  Gerrard, the best player in the world at this moment

Care to predict the score?

Domstad:  I think we will lose with 2,3 to 0, but i hope a draw or maybe a win for PSV.

Santheman: 4-0 Liverpool

Lemp: 3-0 win for you, when you have a bad day.

We almost played the CL final together in Istanbul, you had a very good team at the time. Do you think you would have won the trophey?

Lemp:  Yes, no doubt about it.
