Shame that, used to love Friday afternoons in Hannah's straight from work ...ideal location for a bar - but sadly I think we can guess what happens next

Yea, blag irish bar or a cocktail gaff with loads of neon signs

I didn't realise it was an old pub. Yeah, it's been open a year apparently

Just down the road from ours that, haven't been since it opened though.

Can I ask for a bit of advice for a suitable footy pub please lads and lasses?

A West Ham supporting mate will be in town next Sunday around the North John Street area and has asked for a decent pub to watch their match against the Mancs. I’m not too hot on the pubs around there so suggested Matthew st for a sports bar vibe but he’d prefer a pub.

Cross Keys (Earle St, not too far at all) will have it on and is a proper pub, won't be that busy and won't get any trouble, but then again against United he likely wouldn't in most places  ;D

Does anyone know of any good pubs in town that show GAA. I moved to Liverpool not long ago and I was hoping to watch the all Ireland final tonight.
if I came home to allison in bed with my wife I'd ask him to phone Virgil to see if he wanted to pop round too.

Cheers it's good to know in future. I ended up watching it in O'Neill's on Hanover Street as I've watched games there in Bristol and Leeds before. Was full of Tyrone which was good for me a Rossie who wanted to see mayo get beat ;D

Is the building at the junction, at the top end of Bold Street, that i think used to be a Sainsbury's, with the cash machine, getting turned into a bar or restaurant?

What's it gonna be, it seems to be getting done up?

Will anywhere in town be showing the game tomorrow, or no chance with a 15:00 kick off?

Obviously not been out for one in a while, but I did hear the Celtic Corner was back showing them after being done a couple of seasons back. Usually the top bar. Hannover was, as far as I remember.

Sound did, but alas, that’s also gone to the great beer garden in the sky.

Can’t even remember it’s name, but the boozer right over the road from Central was showing them before the lockdowns too.

You'll prob not find anywhere, they've been really strict on it for a long while now and all the ones I used to frequent for 3pms stopped long ago.

Yeah, & the fines are pretty steep to if a boozer get's caught showing 3pm matches, i remember the First National being fined around £60k after getting caught for showing 3pm matches, & that was about 10 years ago.

So somehow I've resorted to asking on RAWK but... down in Liverpool for the weekend with a mate. He's got trainers on (Air Max) - where's going to let us in on a Saturday? After more of a club/bar vibe rather than a pub... ta!

From this weeks Echo.

A new venue has opened it's doors inside a former bar in Liverpool's city centre.
Beer hall, cocktail bar, diner and live events venue Metrocola has replaced Hanna's Bar, which closed in September.
Metrocola which is the sister sight of The Old School House on Lark Lane, specialises in draught beer, with 24 ales and casks on tap.
The bar is the latest venue by Rob Gutmann, who brought the much-loved Korova Bar to Liverpool in 2005.

Is there anything Rob Gutmann doesn´t own these days?! Pretty much the entirety of Lark Lane is his now - which kind of a makes a mockery of it being a place for "independent" businesses.

That said his places are all really nice. Good taste in decor, usually decent menus. Although it does come with a bump-up in prices. I´ve also heard some of his employment practises are less-then-stellar too...

Was in there on Sunday to watch the game, nice place but didn't try the food. The whole Anfield Wrap crew were in there doing there post match reaction videos. Find the whole thing a little cringeworthy but each to their own I guess.

Depends on what your after to be fair, if you just want a sit down and bev with your friends, then The Albert on Lark Lane for me. Woolton Village wise, start off at the Cobden Vaults on Quarry Street, then try the Victoria and then the Grapes. All decent gaffs and within walking distance too.

If anyone knows they are unlikely to put it on a public forum.

Most gaffs that showed them in town have been hit with fines that make it impossible to carry on.

Your best bet is probably somewhere out of town

Yeah I'm happy to head out of town like- a good few years ago i used to head to one on smithdown but like you said the situation has changed massively since then.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an area then at least? :)

I went to Lark Lane last Saturday night and it was great, had something to eat and then was on the ale in some great bars which aloud dogs in!

Ended up going into town after it which in hindsight we shouldn't have because it is a nightmare.

Been to Lark Lane recently and found it soulless and dead - full of trendy students and the like.

Not quite the same as it was in the 80s and 90s :)

But I suppose not much is.

Apologies if its already been posted, but I was pleasantly surprised with the Abbey Road which was once the infamous Pen & Wig.

Millions of flat screens on the walls, booths, three pool tables and even a decent menu, best of all - they have Madri on tap which is a very nice drop.

I suspect the usual suspects will start gegging in soon, but definitely worth a trip, especially if you work in town.

Maybe it's you that isn't the same as in the 80s and 90s Andy, have you thought about that?  ;D

These places just move with the times, never going to be how they are remembered 10, 20 or 30 years ago.
We already have shit in the country, and the game of Liverpool fills life with joy. Thanks
