I think its safe to say that nowadays the only way they could win the league is if there is another one and nobody else can be bothered with football.

The logic in that fan's argument is soo bitter and twisted. We are in direct competition for fans so they'd rather accept finishing 17th than seeing us win the league? How will that scenario help them? Let's say we finish 4th & they finish 17th. We don't win the league but how will that make the fans we are "competing" for choose them? Because 17th is better than 4th?

It's a little bit disturbing. It effectively means they don't actually fully support the club they waste so much of their time and energy on.
