Thank you for the great effort in trying to clear up the insanity with credible information.  Excellent live coverage amidst all the ambiguity and chaos.

Good work Guardian. Some companies have behaved very well through this past week or so. Next time I buy a news paper, I'll be making sure its the Guardian.

Also considering moving banks to RBS.
I think the same, can't stand him, but if you could have a £1million pound cheque or steve bruces head hollowed out and filled with pound coins which would you have?

Agreed. They've done a sterling job and deserve all the praise they can get for their in-depth (not debt) coverage of this.

I'd also like to say thanks to the Guardian and will most likely e-mail them for their superb coverage especially because I've been working all week as the drama has unfolded !

I have been following developments for the past couple of days on my iPhone as it's the only interweb connection I have whilst at work.

Not wanting to get all soppy, I'd like to thank the mods on here too, especially  VdM, MichaelA, Hinesy and anyone else who contributed behind the scenes. This information was, confusing at times but invaluable when without it, you are only left with your wild running imagination.

Thanks

It was a brilliant effort they all put in to get info out of London, fucking Dallas, twitter, RAWK and god knows where else.  Work was banjaxed, but sanity just about maintained - thanks are VERY well deserved.

Yeh it was good, which is a surprise becasue some of its blogs are terrible. But it wasn't smug or sanctimonious or riling us up... and the Gerry and The Pacemakers videos cheered me up earlier.

The Live blog was invaluable stuff, I probably nicked most of their stuff over the last three days. Excellent effort from the Guardian, left all the other mainstream media outlets way behind this week.

As a twatterphobe I have to admit to becoming hooked on Twitter in the last two days too.  Now I know why Rushian is hardly on here anymore too!

Was superb coverage. Kept right up to date with everything, and was done in the right tone. The random Ned Ryerson reference was a joy. Was hopping across Guardian, Twitter, RAWK and SSN for the three days, literally nothing done workwise.

Twas a great idea (from a liverpool point of view anyway) having that live blogging, I started off on twitter which I have suddenly realised has a purpose to sticking to the guardian with my finger pressed on F5 all day, brilliant stuff, its great having news that fast especially when it means you don't have to put on skysports news.

And so, with perfect timing, John Henry's New England Sports Ventures has bought Liverpool Football Club for £300m.

The Royal Bank of Scotland has had its debts paid off. Unpopular former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are left to threaten courtroom retribution. It's Friday night and Liverpool fans can think about a big weekend, celebrating the end of H&G and the arrival of new owners who come highly-recommended by Boston Red Sox supporters, and looking forward to the Merseyside derby on Sunday afternoon. (John Ashdown will be MBMing the game).

(And I can head off on a footy tour to Cardiff without worrying about the live blog).

It has been an extraordinary few days, featuring four court hearings, two actual takeover offers, one phantom offer and much, much more. Thank you all for reading, commenting, tweeting, emailing - your contribution has been much appreciated.

It only remains to say Good Luck to Liverpool's new owners. And leave you with, what else, but the Kop anthem.

And what a last post! The video brought a tear to my eye remembering http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/oct/15/liverpool-fc-sale-live-coverage-dallas-hicks-henry

Some people on here have given the Guardian stick for some things in the past but they miss the point of what they do. They give serious news coverage but like true fans take the piss as well, no sacred cows and no-one immune from their jokes (they stick they have given the likes of Mr Alex Ferguson in the past goes well beyond what any other paper would ever contemplate)
