A few sat down in the middle for a bit towards the end of the first half, think the heat was getting to some. First game of the season, bit out of condition maybe. ;D

But yeah, was a good atmosphere for a friendly, reminded me of Wigan away with a load of old songs coming out and singing the Coutinho song in the sunshine. :)

Did others see the fella who tripped on his way down the steps at the end as he was leaving, went head first over the barrier and landed on the covered seats at the front?! Poor fella, cut his head open. Took St John's ambulance staff ages to get there. An LFC steward held a compress on it til they escorted him out. Got a round of applause as he left.

The atmosphere at Preston was great, especially for a friendly. Loved hearing some of the older songs. Good job to all that attended!

Loved the atmosphere on Saturday, the boozer was packed before hand although everyone seemed to be having a 'catch up' with each other rather than making any noise.  Inside the ground was great though.

I know its not everyones cup of tea, but I love to see so many kids turning out.  Stands out a mile when a dad who's clearly a 'regular', has his kids with him just cause its a friendly.  We need these kids to be blooded and keen, and atmospheres like Saturdays that they can experience and play a part in can only be good for the future.

True this, I took my 7 year old on Saturday and he went to Wigan and Villa with me last season, he's been in 305/306 a few times with me too,  he loves standing on his seat all game and singing clapping and cheering the smoke bombs etc

Yesterday was his 27th game.....absolutely hooked and loves it :)

Do we think that the authorities will try to clamp down on the old pyro this season?

The perception is that they have little control over it and we know they don't like that.

Fucking brilliant away day that was.  The little fella really enjoyed his first away experience and in the pubs with all the lads beforehand.

and in about 20-30 years when football will not even be played by actual people but by holographic avatars and not only you won't be allowed to stand during games, but you won't be allowed to even whisper because it might disrupt the endless commercials going on over the tannoy for 90 minutes, that kid, already a grown man by then, will be telling his own son - "I remember when I was 7 years old and my arl fella was taking me to watch Liverpool. We stood all the time, sang, there were smoke bombs and not to mention real live humans as players."

I'm on the 'I don't agree' side of things when it comes to flares or smoke grenades. I think they are stupid, dangerous and a needless risk.

I'm sure the club get fined every time one goes off (I know UEFA do if we were playing in Europe). So how much do you reckon we've lost this season.

And its ironic that these morons (and yes anyone taking something that requires igniting into a crowded football stand is a fucking moron) take banners complaining about ticket prices and allocations then bitch and moan that picket prices have gone up to cover the extra policing and stewarding and a reduced allocation due to it being unsafe.

And if that all goes in one ear and out the other how about the fact that we shouldn't need these to create an atmosphere. We're Liverpool fans. Best in the world. Travel all over the country as a travelling kop. We are better than flares and smoke bombs. Its up there with plastic fans and a travelling band (at least those won't cause serious damage)

You think that extra policing is the reason that ticket prices are skyrocketing??  Wow, I've heard it all now.  If policing cost has risen by anything more than 10% in the last 7-10 years, I'll be amazed.  Ticket prices have doubled/trebled in that time.

Was a decent away that. You'll never walk alone at the end sounded good but the second half as a whole was a bit flat but due to the nature of the game understandable I think(although some lads should look up the word support in the dictionary).

Can someone tell me what happened in The Witton Arms afterwards ? They wouldn't let us in after the game and I actually saw some villa fan saying to the bouncer that if they let anymore pool fans in they were going to "smash the place up"..unreal. Got moved on by the police and couldn't find another pub so just got on the train out of there.

I enjoyed that game..atmosphere was good as per, we were in the upper, the only shite thing was the jobsworth stewards kept making everyone in the front 5 rows sit down, there was arguments going off constantly, and they were threatening lads with getting chucked out, they ended up throwing one lad out.
They were saying its 'elf and safety' the first 5 rows...in case anyone falls over the front!!!!!!!!   :o

Everyone stood up as much as they could get away with but the stewards kept pouncing after a minute or 2.

Its not the same sitting at an away....everyone was fuming and it spoiled it a little bit ( good job we won ;D).

Yeah most our fans were in this room at the back. They closed the bar to us, so everyone left. The police were saying there was quite a few Villa fans outside so I think they were worried (although there wasn't that many to be honest).

Only split by a door with a bolt that people were reguarly walking through to go for a piss etc leaving it open.

Didnt go in there after the game. Had already developed a hangover. Just got straight on the train and buggered off.

I agree but the trouble was that at first everyone just laughed at them but they started threatening the ones nearest the stairs with being thrown out, even made a few attempts to try to grab a few guys, in the end everyone probably just thought, fuck it, i'm not getting thrown out and sat down, as I said in my last post they threw a guy out who would not sit down and was arguing with them..

Hoppy, do you mean the Will Mellor lookalike in the front row, middle, to the right of the steps? If so I think he was thrown out because of a combination of factors - he was pissed out of his mind, threw up at least three times in the first half, shit himself, then wouldn't sit down at the start of the second half (probably due to the shite in his undercrackers).

With regards to the standing, I was told by a steward when I came in that it wouldn't be allowed, then again when I was sat in my seat. Had a chat with the steward about it, who told me that it's just the first five rows of the upper that must be seated due to health and safety. A walkway separates these rows of the upper from the ones further back. The steward said the seats were for home fans originally (I think Martin O'Neill moved the away end from behind the goal a few years ago), so they never had a problem with standing. Now it's the away end everyone stands, which they won't allow in case there's a 'rush' and someone falls over the railing. He said if you wanted to stand you can swap with someone further back.

Oh right, I was sat a good bit away from him and just seen him getting took out, I assumed it was for arguing, coz a few lads by me were arguing the toss and nearly got dragged out for it.
