No point trying to sell him. He will do a really good job when called upon. As long as we have depth and we aren’t relying on him, it’s fine.

Why do people keep posting this stuff?
He's unsellable ... he's got 3 years left on his deal on around 100k a week and coming off a major injury; whose buying him / taking on his wages in a post pandemic off season?
He'll be here next season and he's the second best CB at the club so why wouldn't he play?

This

Every time he comes back into the team he's great from the get go and our defence looks better

It's definitely not an ideal situation, but Gomez and Van Dijk will be just as much of an injury concern as him, so that's no reason we wouldn't play him. Obviously for that reason hopefully we have other good CB options too, however these 2 signings turn out.

You know what you're getting with Everton though. Matip got crocked after a bad challenge at Goodison first game after lockdown and he's had injury after injury since. Origi not been the same since Mori went out to do him. Richarlison on Thiago.

They'll happily take the red card. As long as that shitstain of a club are in the PL we'll always have to run the gauntlet of long term injuries.

Memories can play tricks, but if mine serves, Origi was playing with a swagger and real confidence we’ve not seen since, before that Mori challenge, so I think Fromola makes an entirely valid point.

Said there was a few tough decisions to make on Ox, Minamino and Matip a few days ago and here we are today, Minamino gone and Klopp after bringing in two central defenders. Matip as our 4th or 5th option is amazing as hopefully he can still give us great service when called on but the poor lad is jinxed. Wish him a quick recovery and if he ever did trade in his body for one that was made of iron he probably be the ideal partner alongside Virgil.

Based on Klopp's comments, he played with injuries this season as we had limited options, sacrificed himself for the sake of the team, and also he's def. going to be here next season. Klopps ''we'll wait for him'' words

good  :)

Hard listening to Kloppo today talking about it, he is gutted for Joel and the team, and for missing his presence off the pitch as much as on too.

He's gone down the Agger and Aurelio route.

Supremely talented but just can't stay on the pitch.

Sad news. Great, great player, and also kind of fascinates me as a person. He comes across and sounds like some sort of German nobleman, like a Prussian prince from yesteryear who has exquisite taste... and very specific, very obscure sexual kinks. Maybe Dim Glas can confirm, is he a bit posh like?

Don’t know about posh  ;D

His mother is actually a doctor who specialises in dementia apparently! His father studied chemistry and was also a chemistry teacher, as well as being a footballer himself.

I think he’s just a very unique personality, not into the side of fame so many footballers are into - the cars, the ‘fashion’, and has no social media presence. He and his missus just manage to keep their lives very seperate to football which is cool.

That is what make Joel a man of mystery!
