The last 2 performances from aurelio have been top draw. He was superb against Madrid, and almost superb against the manc scum today. Takes up great positions, reads the game very well, and his distribution was excellent. To top it off he gets a great goal. Keep it up Fabio!

:D

He looks so happy. Made up for him.

Superb technique. Just been sat her watching that for 5 minutes!!

Fabio is a much better player but to be fair Riise has hit some goals from so far out with the kind of power not even gerrard can match. Fabio doesn't have that.

Fabio is a better player imo, but I think Riise was harshly criticised by many Liverpool fans - especially in his last season.. Watched Roma vs Arsenal in midweek, and thought he was outstanding - played out of position at CB for much of the game..

I'm glad Fabio is proving so many fans wrong with his performances of late. He's a fantastic full back, one of the best in the division and his technique is spot on. It's just unfortunate the lad is so injury prone.

Must not forget he was a free transfer too, great dealings from Rafa.

When will Fabio get the respect he deserves. An utterly immense performance shackling the so called best player in the world, then sealing the win with one of the sweetest free kicks.

As for anyone slagging off Rafa fuck off and support Chelsea you horrible c*nts

Thought Aurelio was our best player in the 1st half. He cancelled out C. Ronaldo completely and did just about everything right. His 2nd half wasn't as good (would have been hard), but then he scored that beautiful freekick and won us the game.

Class player.

Probably my MOTM. In the space of a week, he has rendered both Robben and Ronaldo useless. Superb free-kick as well, he should take more of them.

Best free kick you will ever see?

Yep. Sailed into the top corner leaving the keeper helpless and also happened to seal a thumping win at Old Trafford.

Excellence of execution and epic magnitude. Check.

I've never seen Fabio concede a stupid penalty like Evra did today.

Aurelio's been in stunning form recently.

What a delivery he has - his set piece taking was pretty bad last season but to be honest he eclipses Gerrard at both free kicks and corners and he should be taking everything which would give us a much-needed extra target in Gerrard).

Maybe needs to get forward a bit quicker when we're on the counter, but that would be my only complaint.

If I can add to that, Aurelio showed a superb technique with very little 'in-game practice'. If he was given regular free kick duties, one can only dream...

Rafa has stated in the past that Fabio's technique is just as good as, if not better than the likes of Gerrard, Torres and Alonso. Obviously they all play different positions and have superb technique but Fabio looks so comfortable both defending, putting crosses in from the left and taking free kicks. What a superb player. The only thing that has limited his career to an extent is injuries and let's hope its the beginning of phase 2 of his career where he can enjoy 3-4 seasons of injury free football with us and with Insua deputising and looking to play more regularly over the next few years, we have 2 very good options covering left back.
Oh and if we really need a goal, then we've got out beast of a italian who can come on as an emergency left sided player as well. We're sorted! ;D

Interesting to see that the the wall hardly jumped there. I'm sure they were expecting a dummy from Aurelio and for Gerrard to have a go.

Great technique and celebration too.

I am going to say it again. Fabio deserved to be given more responsibilities at set pieces - free kics and corners. And Stevie is more dangerous at the end of those set pieces than taking them.

And Fabio - excellent free kick!

Finally we have a full back that is everything you need in the premiership. I thought he was very light weight up until his return from his latest injury. I know its been said, but he is a player that has to be at least 90% fit, otherwise he looks ordinary.
Pick your best players in the same formation and pass to a red shirt - 18 League titles.
Rotation, resting, zonal marking, dropping off, high tempo,  holding midfielders - ?

Fabio has been in awesome form over the last month and the way he has handled 2 of the worlds best wingers in Ronaldo and Robben should shut up some of the naysayers.

Brilliant freekick too, which just proves he should take most of our set pieces and leave Stevie to lurk at the edge of the box.
