Posting in relevant thread as well..

just saw the FC Barca forum, a good majority of them are shitting bricks.. their problem seems to be a weak back four, form of Busquets, aging Suarez, unsure Coutinho and Dembele, Klopp being a much more Superior Manager than Valverde, heavy reliance on Messi Magic to bail them out, our young squad, strong defense and our relentless pressing..

Lets get something out of Nou Camp and the tie..

Mad that I'm looking forward to this as a 'break' from the relentlessness of the league as much as anything else. A Champions League semi-final away at Barcelona.

Come away within a goal of them, at worst, and you'd fancy us to finish the job at home. We're very capable of that as well.

Think Barca will play fairly slow, dictate the tempo, space and possession but not sure that will be enough particularly if we play on the break.

Don't think Klopp goes defensive and try to emulate what Rafa and Houllier achieved in the Nou Camp in Euro competitions.

Back 5 no changes. Hendo, Fab, and Gini and the front 3. Keita for all his pressing might not be what we need and I think he'll be used for the return leg at Anfield and other premier league games.

Nervous but have a feeling Barca will be as well and they might not go toe to toe.

Is Bobby ruled out? Or has he got a chance of playing?

All we have is this from Klopp:

"Bobby trained yesterday [Thursday] completely normally. It was not high intensity, we just had to work on set-pieces a little bit and here and there a couple of things," he told a news conference.

"I didn't see it in training, it happened in the last situation of training and he felt a muscle a little bit.

Now, the official diagnosis is he has a small tear in a small muscle, so apart from the word tear everything else is positive.

It is Bobby, so he might be ready for Wednesday, but we obviously don't know in the moment. Because it is him, it's rather likely that [he will be] than not, but we will see."

I see the club world cup has been scrapped annually and will be now every 4 years. If we win the Champions League this season at least we don't have to go off to Japan/UAE/Morocco for a mickey mouse trophy in December and have a back log of games to deal with when we got back next season.

Scoring at the nou camp is the key.. a narrow win would be ideal.. but even a score draw or a narrow 1 goal loss would not be too bad.. I feel we will have too much for them at home in the second leg.. I mean United gave it a good go and could have scored two in the first 20 minutes and only a Messi masterclass knocked the stuffing out of them..

We are a lot better than United and Klopp is a proven  champions league manager with pedigree unlike Ole..

I think Fabinho, Henderson and Wijnaldum might be Klopp’s “reliable” midfield

How many times has he played those 3 in midfield as a 3 - id wager it’s very few because it doesn’t contain a ‘ball progressor’.
Be shocked if Milner doesn’t start as the most advanced of the 3 ... I’d pick Keita but Klopp has pretty consistently gone with Milner in these games in that role
Then it’s 2 from Fabinho, Henderson and Wijnaldam

Lol, guess it does not bother you then. By the way the new format FIFA have done for the club world cup now every 4 years is even more ridiculous then the old format. They don't care about welfare of players, just about more money making schemes. The ECA says the European clubs will likely boycott it in 2021.

This season is funny in that way, I'm feeling the same, almost forgot we were playing in a European Cup SF.
This tie could go either way I reckon, their back 4 isn't reliable, but they still have a lot of quality in their team.

I like Milner, but he has played a lot this season while Naby was getting up to speed and he looks to have slowed a touch. Keita has fresh legs and is brimming with confidence. Scoring goals too.

You are right mate, those sort of comments are at best naive. Only one British side has ever won at the Nou Camp (us of course x 2) and they are Spanish champions so it will be a difficult tie. If we come out on top it will be a great achievement and I am confident we can do it, but to suggest it will be easy is a bit daft.

Liverpool are ideally placed to get a result at Barca and, as you say, know how to win at Camp Nou. Not the only British side to win there though. A wee Scottish club won there twice before money changed the game forever.

Nobody remembers the losers of semi finals. Barring injuries to key players, whatever Barcelona throw at us, we should be able deal with it.

We’re actually starting to peak at the right time. It’s all looking at little bit easier for the forwards compared to a few months ago. That’s bad news for Barcelona because we are going to create chances.

An away goal or 2 would be brilliant for obvious reasons, and we are more than capable of achieving that if we go about it the right way.

The days of 0-0 being a good away result in Europe are long gone in my opinion, especially against class opposition.

Watched them a few times this season and so far not really seen any change in approach from them. Fullbacks will be high and overlap. Messi will have a free role, one of Coutinho and Dembele will be wide, Suarez working across the line.

I've said it a few times, but I really think we can do significant damage in the away leg if they approach this as they usually do. If we're clinical, it wouldn't surprise me if we score 3 or 4. I'll be backing it as well (8/1 and 33/1 respectively). Mane and Mo will have acres to counter into, if we can win the ball back quickly - I wonder if this may lead to Keita getting the nod.

We'll need to be tight and concentrated, obviously, and hope that we can slow down Messi and reduce passes into him where possible.

Thought we were way over confident and didn't manage expectations against Madrid.

I see a very tight game unless Barca throw everything at us in the Nou Camp. They probably don't have the speed of city anymore unless Dembele plays but they have sufficient experience to keep possession.

Get through the first 15 and keep the natives quiet.

Valverde is a bit of a coward as a manager.  I think he'll play it very conservative and will hope Messi can provide them with a moment of magic to give them a lead going to Anfield, where he'll play even more defensive to try and hold a lead.

It's not going to be easy because Barca is very good and they have the best player of all time but I do think we can beat them both home and away and advance to the finals.  We just need everyone to be on their game and can't make any silly mistakes.

It is absolutely mad to be a Liverpool fan right now. If the excitement, ecstasy and agony of the league run in isn't good enough for you then you can just focus on us being in another Champions League semi-final. This is a truly brilliant tie between two European greats who have both won this competition 5 times. Virgil Van Dijk, Lionel Messi, Sadio Mane, Luis Suarez, Mo Salah, Gerard Pique, Bobby Firmino, Phil Coutinho, Alisson, Sergio Busquets, Naby Keita, Ivan Rakitic….

You get the picture. We are rightfully where we belong to be but also blessed to be here IMO. Klopp and his staff and the players have made this seem normal again when quite recently we wondered if we would ever be here again. You dont want to take these nights for granted becuase things can turn on a dime in life and sport but I'm confident that we are so well run now in all deparments that this will be the norm going forward. Liverpool FC v FC Barcelona, European Cup semi-final. Sounds good, doesn't it?

As for the two games themselves it is difficult to predict if you take away the bias. Since I knew they were in our side of the draw I said that we could just be too energetic and too intense for them. The speed of play in the Spanish league isn't at the level of the Premier League and whilst I'm not a statto I'd be confident that the numbers back that up in terms of sprints and distance covered. Sure, they have players with incredible technical ability who will be confident that they can play around our press but I see Messi, I see Coutinho, I see Suarez at 32, I see Rakitic and Busquets the wrong side of 30 along with Pique, and I wonder over 2 legs if they just wont be able to keep up with us physically. Messi often walks for periods of the game and he's allowed that luxury because he's the greatest to ever play the game. But we need to somehow exploit that when we have the chance.

It isn't just the intensity of our football, it is what that intensity signals. Win the ball back high with a counter-press and have three or four lethal players bearing down on goal. We don't just press to disrupt or to make it awkward, we press to give our forwards the best opportunity to score. Now for many games this season the press hasnt been needed, or we've not pressed like madmen for 90 minutes, but against Barcelona that can't be the case. I think these two games will display Klopp's famed 'heavy metal football' and it'll be an absolute joy to watch. Getting the away goal (or 2) will be absolute key, we need something to take back to Anfield. Not scoring an away goal puts us in a quite precarious position, and a 0-0 draw could just about be the worst result possible.

I'm confident we can get through but Barcelona are still a world class side. Forget all this about them not being the force of old, that particular side people reference was one of the best you'll ever see. This is a level below that for sure, but that doesn't take away from how good they are and can be.

Number 6. It isn't that far away.

Reckon we will go with Fabinho, Milner and Henderson.

I don't think Milner, especially not with Henderson as well. I suspect our premium "3" is not Fab, Hendo, Keita, if Klopp is going "safety first" then it would be Gini
instead of Keita.

I have my thoughts about the potential final line ups, but they will have to wait until after Barca.  I've outlines my opinion on the teams in an earlier post, and that I feel they are over reliant on individuals compared to our more cohesive team unit.  I think between Messi and Suarez their attack is slightly superior to our defence, but I also think that our attack is much more superior than their defence.

We have a much better chance of scoring against their defence than they have against ours.   That said, we can't afford to switch off for a second.  It's Barcelona.

I will add, based upon what I've read in here, is that Valverde may fall into the trap of worrying too much about conceding, rather than scoring.  He might look to prioritise the clean sheet and look to play at Anfield for the away goal.  But to do that he has to stop us from scoring in one game and stop us from outscoring them in the second.  That's a big ask.

Will be interesting to see if they start Dembele or Coutinho. If Dembele starts, he will give TAA a tough time.
