Have to agree Duv, to be honest the entire Arc weekend seems to be short on absolutely off the scale animals. None of the group 1 races set my pulse racing.

Fillies to the fore in the Arc again. Poor renewal but great for Rossa Ryan and Ralph Beckett

Honestly some of the worst Group 1 racing you’ll see. Donkeys winning everywhere.

I’d love to know who’s really financing this Amo Racing operation because there’s no way Joorabchian can be rich enough to be risking this much capital. They’ve gone to over 4 million guineas for a horse twice in a few days. Over 15 million total spend this week alone.

I suspect you’re right, Gerry; however, the amount these leeches take out of the game is eye watering and obscene. I don’t know the size of his client list, but whatever it is, the Coutinho to Barca deal alone would have been extremely lucrative.

Very doubtful that he has this sort of disposable income. I personally think it's a dodgy situation, similar to Usmanov bankrolling the BS, under a different name.

Very impressive by Desert Flower after taking a moment to pick up. She’s absolutely hosed up there

I do. But will she stay the Oaks, she’s got a change of gear, by a guineas winner. I think she probably wins that

She was staying on powerfully there, went further away the closer they got to the line. A winter of strengthening up and I’m confident she’d get it. They may not want her going that far though for breeding purposes.

The fact that Ballydoyle had three runners suggests they thought a strong pace might hand January a better chance. But as you say, the speed and stamina was provided by Desert Flower.

Champions Day looks fairly uninspiring again. Second year in a row the ground is so bad they’ve switched half the races to the inner course. Always seem to get a few shocks due to the lateness in the season and horrible ground. They need to rethink it, as I don’t think it’s producing champions or the races being won by them at the moment

Kyprios is some horse. A pure machine.

I'm at leopardstown today mainly due to the weather. Four 2yo maidens and a 2yo nursery doesn't bode well for picking winners though 😂

As for Ascot, Mr Professor did me a nice turn before so let's see if he does again.

Stayers aren’t sexy but they’re real warriors and you get solid form most of the time because they don’t really dodge each due to the programme being limited.

Lovely from Charyn. Tough as old boots that boy. Just kept finding and broke Facteur Cheval’s heart and resistance. Nice for Varian to have a multi group 1 winner when Maktoum took all his horses from him.

Cracking racing today from Cheltenham. I have always disliked this time of year - the weather deteriorating, days drawing in, fishing coming to a close. The footy helps the mood, but perhaps even more so, the NH racing getting into full swing. Twiston-Davies’s and the Skeltons are in great form atm.

I wouldn’t want any of the horses in a really deep group 1/classic next season but something had to win today. They’d pulled quite a long way clear but the ground is shit.

You’d have to say she does look exceptional. Very tough filly too. Would’ve been easier for her to back out of it after what happened in the race but she tries hard.

Godolphin have added Varian to their list of handlers. Good for him and well deserved. Tremendous trainer. Would guess he’s more likely to get a Gosden standard of Godolphin horse than Appleby but they’re all well bred so a couple might pop up.

Rich Ricci managed to get 2 million AUD for Vauban. Huge money for a horse that hates the Melbourne Cup, wouldn’t win a Cheltenham Festival race and a gelding. No wonder he cashed in.

I saw that. I’m sure Mullins was talking about trying the Stayers route with him earlier this week so it must have happened quickly. Still good money as you say, although in dare say he’ll win some decent races down there and the prize money is way better

Jonbon out today, not always at his best round Cheltenham so could be an interesting race if Edwardstone is up for it.

See Henderson has done the sensible thing and aimed Sir Gino at the Arkle. Wonder where Mullins is intending on going with Ballyburn

It’s just such a disappointing offering. I’m not even wasting my time travelling for 6 races where 2 of them have 4 runners and one is a cross country race. It’s designated a premier race day but it’s anything but. Horse racing needs to do better. A lot better.

I actually think the whole November meeting has seemed weaker in recent years. Definitely struggle to attract bigger fields

He had to work for it; managed to dig it out after looking vulnerable briefly. Boothill ran a great race while as is often the case, Edwardstone was good but not good enough.

Yes, today is a very poor offering indeed. If I still lived over in the UK I wouldn't be in a hurry to go today, that's for sure.

I'm intrigued to see if Conflated has the stamina for the trip next up.

Edit - Never ever looked like staying. I backed Tommie Beau who had every chance until he ran off the fucking course near the end  :butt :butt :butt

These races are a bit mad. Many may disagree, but I honestly think that race is as tough as the modern Grand National stamina-wise due to the fences and type of course, even though it is 5 furlongs shorter.

Sounds like the rail was just sticking out rather than in the wrong place. Not sure whether that gap to run out should have been there, but if so he’s had a mare

I think Valgrand is/was fairly highly thought of and he’s pretty much run to form with the third horse. He’s won by 11l eased down. I try not to go overboard about any horse this early in the season but that did look good to me.

Didn’t look short of speed so wouldn’t be surprised if they go for the 2m5 hurdle, although today will probably be the firmest surface he runs on

It’s just so difficult to know where you stand with the Irish novices these days. I don’t think there’ll be a better British trained contender for the novice hurdles though.
