I had to google, but yes he was replaced by Nunez.

Thought so.  I think people tend to forget we played in that because we won the CL.  He really was the opposite of a big game player!
I don't always visit Lobster Pot.  But when I do. I sit.

That save from Reina doesn't get talked about enough. Unbelievable save.
I'd forgotten all about it somehow. Incredible save.
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

Riises redemption penalty ranks higher than Stuart fucking Pearce for me
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Something about Reina that puts a massive grin on my face. One of my favourite foreign players we've had.

Cisse's finish is criminally overlooked. If that's the winner in a 2-1 it's in the frame for cup final goal of the decade.
If I were a linesman, I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides.

Same! It was half my lifetime ago. It made me very nostalgic. You always grew up on stories of the glory years, but this era still gave me plenty of fond memories.

Remember this game so clearly..my  baby daughter had died a few months before. I was living in London and my dad who had been ill came to visit her grave about lunch time of the day of the final it had only been two months and remember sobbing my heart out when that goal went as if it came from angels. A few days before I got a signed postcard from Stevie too...my favourite ever goal...(sorry if heavy)

Fuckin ell lad.

Not heavy at all .

Glad I missed that if we did ;D

I still remember the stadium announcer saying "4 minutes" thinking fuck then seeing the ball flying towards us before sheer pandemonium broke out, ripped the shit out of my leg on the seat in front.

I'd staying in Surrey at my mates house the night before and had to go back to get my car before driving home - 4 of us had gone so we hung about in Cardiff to get something to eat and let the traffic die down - bumped into a lot of decent West Ham lads, had a couple of bevvies with them. Felt a bit strange as we did rob them that day ;D

Yep that ball in by Gerrard to Cisse is massively overlooked too, & how lucky was Konchesky's goal, that was a cross.

The Luton game is especially memorable for me as I'd been living in the town for about 6 months at that point and there was a lot of buzz about the visit of a big premier league team.

As well as the oddities about the game already posted I remember Clattenberg awarding a penalty for a Luton player stamping on Carson's foot... outside of the area:

~ Kenneth Williams, with whom I'm noddingly acquainted. Socially impressed?

I was in row 6 right behind the nets and I’ll never forget the sound of the ball hitting the back of the net for both of Gerrards goals.
A great day out though in the days a season ticket and just getting home credits and the semi guaranteed you a ticket.
Got to say also the semi at old Trafford was absolutely brilliant.. the singing in the stadium after the final whistle and the goading of the Chelsea fans on the long walk back to the car.
Had a great Indian that night as well. Bloody fantastic.
