which is why the Tory brexiteers are calling for an early election as they know they would batter the Labour Party, only hope for us that the lib dems take the 30 odd seats off the Tories to prevent a Tory majority
Can't see an early election happening, there's too much risk for the tories to make things worse for themselves just in the process of actually calling one never mind the eventual result of one.
Because of the fixed-term act, there's only 3 ways they could call an election.
1. Calling an early election requires a 2/3 majority, requires at least 104 votes from other parties.
2. A no-confidence vote against themselves.
3. A repeal of the fixed-term act or a one-clause one-time bill to bypass it.
All of which could easily fail with half-a-dozen tory rebels. And for what? To potentially lose their majority and a party crisis.
