One year ago today he made the best debut in a Liverpool shirt that I could remember in a long time. Incredible to think that in his first few months despite not playing a lot of football in the previous months, he helped guide us to another European Cup final. He's been even better this season too and even though he's been here a full year it still feels like a revelation watching him.

Runaway favourite for the PFA POTY award. Can’t remember the last time a defender was even in the conversation, think it was Vidic in 2009 (the year Giggs ‘beat’ Stevie). Last defender to win was Paul McGrath. Have to go back 30 years for the last time a defender won the FWA award, Steve Nicol

Its funny you say that.. in the first half there was a moment when he was on the ball and was waving at Hendo to get into a better position..
