50-50 half for me. Salah has played well.

We need to get a grip of midfield. Their players are just strolling past us.

How on earth was that a foul by Salah? Referee gave three free kicks in a row and couldn’t have seen any fouls but let their players tell him what to do.

Why was Jota offside when the defender played the ball?

We could obviously do with a goal but we need to be stronger and not let them pass around us.

Madrid have been time wasting pricks. Would be nice if the officiating could add on the appropriate amount of time, as well as spotting Salah being wrestled to the floor. Our attack unsurprisingly looks pretty disjointed.

These are so poor defensively, I mean so are we, but we’re having to leave gaps.
A 0-0 is very unlikely with these two teams.

Madrid's ability to kill a game is easily the best of any side in the world.

I'd said before the game that the only way we'd get through here was some sort of mad 15-20 minutes late in the game and I guess on the plus side that's still vaguely possible.

Darwin our biggest threat. We're wide open at times but, reservations about Milner and Fab aside, I think that'd be the case with anyone.

Hope we get at least one for the travelling reds.
3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.

Anything else is negligent.

We're giving a good go but just lacking that real bit of quality, Madrid's passing is light years ahead of ours.

Agreed. what ever they do in training we need to copy..

Almost everyone looks terrified of making a mistake, you cant set up in this formation and play laboured passes around the back, be direct and take the game to them, it's the only option.

Well done Nunez, chasing, going straight to goal and trying things. Just go at them

I'd scrap the front 4 plan, get Keita on and just go direct, get him carrying the ball through the middle and just go all out for it

Not been great really. Look very nervy of losing the ball. Milner also looks really far up the pitch at times when they have the ball and is easy to bypass.

I would swap Jota or maybe Gakpo for someone - maybe Firmino.

We need an early goal just to remove how comfortable it is for Madrid

RM started very well, but we held our own and Ali has been spot on tonight.

Early goal and you never know, going to have to work extremely hard for it, even if their defence looks to be their only slight weak link.

They are starting to look frustrated, which only leads to them pulling out diving from their box of dark arts.

We've been alright tactically. I find Macca's suggestions to take more risks strange because as we found out in the first le, they prey on mistakes.

Alisson has been incredible. Doesn't get enough credit.

Trent's corners have been woeful. Other than the cheeky one he tried they've all been hung up in the air and easy to defend. We've had our moments but I think should have got a goal if we were to come back here.
Our corners are generally awful. Given Robertson and Trent's crossing ability it's crazy how often they fail to beat the first man.

I feel like Jurgen told the boys to not lose the tie within the first 20 mins and then to up the tempo and start taking some risks, but so far they haven’t been able to due to Madrids control on the match.

It looks like it’s slipping away sadly, but if we score early in the second half then you never know

Well, still in it. Madrid haven't scored to completely kill it off.
Some good moments up front, that just didn't pan out. Same for them though.
All I'll say is, we did score 6 against MU in 45 mins. Do half that tonight and I'll be happy....

Fucking hell. Passing the ball around the back like we’re 4-0 up :lmao

The way we’ve gone from a fast paced attacking side with plenty of dribbling and skills to slow/sluggish and no dribbling ability in the team is an absolute joke.
Have to agree with this really. Every time we regain possession we're passing it sideways while they get back into position. What happened to that fast-breaking team that tore opposition sides apart? It's just too easy for them.

We’ve got 4 vs 2 in midfield.. we won’t get a grip…. We’ve given it up to try and hot them on the break…

It tactical because

A. They have the best midfield in the world.

B. Ours is shot

We've been...okay...I guess.  Nunez looks a threat, but that's about it, despite having Jota, Gakpo and Salah on the pitch.  Still, 0-0, 45 minutes to rock the fuck out of them.  Two wonderful saves from Ali.

I for one, am sick of the fucking sight of Modric and Vinicius Junior.

Done ok but has a massive dead rubber feel, we have no belief and they're in first gear. Still, would be nice to win on the night.

Keep getting the ball to Darwin, by far our biggest threat.

Madrid arent going to take many risks as they dont have to but if we go 1-0 up they could get twitchy unlikely but could happen.

McManaman does realise we have Milner/Fabinho in CM not sure what he is expecting them to do their job is to try protect.

We are digging in and thats all you ask for.

Fortunate just to still be in this single half of the tie.

They are the far superior team, wouldn't surprise me if they won it all again.

In fairness, even wen we were great, Madrid handled us. Scored about 4 goals past them in the last 7 games or something.

We give the ball away under zero pressure, way too often.

0-0 would be fine in the first leg away from home.

Really though Alisson has had to produce two wonder saves to keep us level. Madrid haven't got out of first gear and when they do they just pass the ball round us for fun. Think that last minute where Trent overlaps Salah and puts an aimless cross in and then from the subsequent (bad) corner the ball works it's way to Robbo who floats it back in and Van Dijk can't even be arsed jumping for the ball sums up our mentality. It's like there's just that ah well never mind eh mentality

Takes us probably 5 times how long it should to move the ball or make a decisions to pass, you have to question what we do on the training ground when there isnt an opportunity to counter.
