I’d go with Fabinho Henderson and Elliott , don’t get all the faith in Keita.

Who is playing LCM? Neither Elliot or Hendo have played that position. Unless you're saying a double pivot with Elliot at 10? Then I would suggest Carvalho, who has a lot more recent experience in playing that position, or Firmino starts as a 10.

Keita plays mainly because he plays in that LCM position a lot for us and usually does a good job.

Woah! Woah! Woooooah! You can't just come in here and compliment Keita like that!! Did you not have your morning coffee or something?

More seriously, I know everyone had the right to their opinion and to air it, but Fab being bad for the last 18 months is just a really strange take. Keita we know has the ability to switch off defensively occasionally but the rest of his game is really elite. The lad has been just too disrupted by injuries to be our automatic first choice. I'm with Trump's TTH here, if he's fit, he plays.

But I read on here after the Fulham game he's been poor for 18 months?

imagine the trophies we could have won if he was better and klopp actually listened to rawk and neville and carra and merson and keane and ferdinand.

so at least keita and tsimi is back. from the reports back when seems like curtis and konate both out for a month at least.

hope to see fabio in the mix somewhere in the game.

any idea who's the official that is going to fuck us over this game?

He has an ability to break a press that two of those haven’t. I know he’s absent a lot but Keira isn’t a poor midfielder at all.

Fabinho, Milner and Elliot in midfield for me (as Hendo always drifts centre when playing from left anyway).

Matip possibly out.

The amount of injuries we have is staggering.

That felt almost inevitable as soon as Kounate's injury was announced.  Matip and intensity of playing/training doesn't seem to mix well.  When he was readily rotated with Kounate he had just about his best run of injury free football with us.

If there's a silver lining then it may be in the form of Joe Gomez.  He signed a five year contract last month so the club have obviously got some faith that his injuries are behind him.  A run in the team is just what he needs.

He's only played two competitive games, a week apart. The rotation wasn't needed with that duration last year, which was hugely successful in terms of keeping him fit and firing. Maybe preseason was higher intensity than last seasons.

We're struggling with injuries which always break up the rhythm in the team. Ali, Trent, Gomez, VVD, Robbo, Fab, Naby, Hendo, Diaz, Darwin, Salah is probably the team I would go with. To be honest, not too many selection headaches which isn't a great thing at the start of the season. Hopefully we can at least perform better than we did against Fulham.

I don't think this is the worst game to re-introduce Gomez back into things. Palace are decent enough and dangerous on the break but they don't have a standout striker and looked very toothless against Arsenal. We should be alright here, any win will of course do but let's hope for no more injuries in the process! On Gomez it's a great opportunity for him, the only reason he's ever lost his place has always been injuries, never due to bad form. Himself and VVD is one hell of a partnership.

Yeah I'd probably say that team, not sure if we might introduce Naby a bit slower.   Hopefully the home crowd can give these players a bit of fire as it was strange to see that performance last weekend.

Hopefully Matip isn't out too long.

The biggest injury loss for me is actually Jota. He scored so many important goals in tight games last season, people forget.

Klopp didnt seem very happy. I bet a combination of the heat, the shit performance, reading online and in the papers about transfers, injuries and a big gap between games contributed to his mood.

Thanks for the OP jack.

Having to wait till Monday is annoying but at least there’s been other entertainment today to tide us over :)

Injuries clearly already an issue for us, but hopefully at home and with what players we still have available we should be too good for these. We do have to come out with more conviction than we did in the first half last week though.

I'd say it's much better having Monday night fixtures at the moment given the heatwave. We won't have an advantage vs. the opposition but it will give us the best possible conditions in which to play our high intensity pressing game - plus as annoying as it is, I'd much rather be in the stadium at night under the floodlights rather than frazzling in 35 degree heat!!

Line up wise, I'd go Fabinho/Keita/Elliott vs. Palace but I suspect we'll see Fabinho/Henderson/Elliott. I'd also chuck Nunez in from the start, feel he's earned it and would like to see a 70+ minute Anfield debut!

Thanks jackh.

I don’t really care who our starting 11 is as we will change things up as the game progresses. I don’t think we were 100% match fit for the Fulham match and I hope that we’ll see a much sharper performance.

There are no gimmes in the league and the most important thing is attitude and commitment. We have the players to beat these and I expect that we will. We are already in catch-up mode with City and we don’t want to let the gap grow.

There will be a bit of pressure on us in that City already have a 5 point lead. Of course its not fully reflective because they have played two games but its not healthy to start thinking about us being a distance behind already.

Dont care about the performance, but we have to win.

Bollocks to Monday night games. First home game and it's going to pissing down and a pain in the arse with the buses off (Though the 14 is running, apparantly)

Going to get the missus to drop me and a few mates at our local, then onto Anfield and back in time for her to smoke me some kippers!

Oh and it's going to be pissing down too
