Fairly disjointed performance but the three points really is all that matters.

Pros -

Ali made an excellent save shortly before our goal (offside though?) which proved crucial and his distribution and cross-catching was spot on throughout.

Gomez played well defensively and put in two fantastic crosses, one of which resulted in a goal.

Thiago is just stunning to watch. Good defensive work, excellent on the ball and just always looking to open the opposition up. Nice controlled aggression today.

Firmino played well. Faded a bit but held the ball well and generally took up clever positions. A few misplaced passes towards the end as he tired.

Overall, you take any 3 points that takes you top of the league, with no injuries, the planned substitutions not disrupting our game and players like Trent, Mane, Mo, Fab and Diaz all getting some form of rest.

We had a shit load of games like this when we won the league, none more so that the one at home to Watford in that season, which was pretty much a carbon copy of this game.

Nah. We have to win that game. City think we cant beat them at there place because we havent won their since the CL QF 4 years ago. They also have the confidence of outplaying us for long periods of the game at Anfield earlier this season. We have to send them a message next week and that means winning the game. I think we are overdue on gong to the etihad and our forwards going off and i think the last month has been a real grind and getting the job done.
