I know basically nothing about sports science, but maybe playing more consistently the past month has been good for him.

like you, no clue if it has helped him physically, but it sure as shit has helped his form.

Fantastic, bit of luck that he needed and really happy for him due to it helping to fuck off the reaction that comes when he is injured more recently. The reaction to the last injury before this one was like he's trying to get injured. They're frustrating but i'd imagine it's more frustrating for him than anyone

He should put one extra cotton ball under each shin, that will protect him. In the United game his shins were the size of a matchbox, ffs...

A pack of ten at that.

Maybe we should have a whip round and buy him a decent pair of shin pads from Jack Sharps.

I know basically nothing about sports science, but maybe playing more consistently the past month has been good for him.

Keita went on a training regime last season designed to build up his strength and endurance. It also helped that he had a full pre-season this season, his first in years.
Without meaning to tempt fate, he has been available for selection for all but one game this season.

If he wants that luck to continue he should start with bigger shin pads.

He'd need armour for this kind of "tackle"

More and more annoyed every time i see that "tackle" that the prick of a ref didn't think it was worthy of a red. Shitty thing to do from Pogba just because his side where getting outplayed. Could have ended Naby's season but thankfully his assault failed the thick dabbing cnut.

What is the reasoning behind tiny shin pads?

It's a compromise between Soren Lerby on one end of the spectrum and Shane Watson on the other.

Some players just don't like wearing them at all, so they pick the smallest ones possible.  With his injury record I'd be wearing cast iron full length leggings covered in bubblewrap.

Do players legally have to wear shin pads?  It feels like some of the modern shin pads are really just to tick the box of having some on as they offer almost no protection.

It's a bit like wearing a mask under your nose just so you don't get turfed out of a shop.

As Pogba whacked Naby from the side though I'm not sure any shin pads would have made much of a difference.

I’d imagine that he didn’t wear any growing up.

So I understand it.  And do they actually help much?

I remember reading an article about Naby about him bouncing off moving cars playing street football as a kid, so yeah doubt he'd even seen a shin pad before he got to Europe.

Personally I think they do inhibit mobility a little bit, it's probably in the 0.X%'s in terms of performance difference but at the top end it's small margins. I'd rather he wore them though as he's the sort of player that opposition like to leave one on.

Shane Watson's pads would have helped. Shane Watson's pads would protect against a nuclear explosion.

Long time since I played footy but I could never get on with shin pads and have the scars to prove it. My lad wears the ones that velcro around the back and have the ankle pads and he's chucked them off a few times moaning that they annoy him.

Hopefully just a precaution. Klopp said Milner signalled to the bench he had a tight muscle before going down injured sprinting after a player moments later. With us being so short of midfield numbers right now, we might have told them not to take any risks and come off if they feel any tightness.
