We might score less this season but we'll definitely concede less with Virgil. He's an absolute monster. Can't think of too many better than him in the world right now. He's the best in the Premier League for me.

Truly world class performance from VVD tonight and you can already see the considerable improvement in Joe Gomez playing alongside him. Benteke didn't have a sniff.

He's worth every penny we paid for him and more. Just look at how he's improving the younger lads defensively. Always talking to them on the pitch and so so assured. Did anyone else catch the brotherly head rub on Gomez at fulltime. He's literally turned our fragility around the day he signed for us and now that I've seen him play, there's no player in the world that could have come in and done what he did. Absolute boss all over and any nervousness I had when we were defending deep for the last decade has actually been weaned off in the last 6 months. I have so much confidence with our lads at the back now.

He is the perfect player to help blood the 21, 24 and 19 year olds he’s playing alongside. This back four if they continue to play together, could be our defence for the next 6-7 years. That is so bloody exciting.

Carrahger and Neville saying they are surprised how good he is makes me chuckle.

VVD has always been an absolute different class. It may of been Scotland but for those who watched him at Celtic we saw a rolls Royce of a player and knew very early on he was going all the way to the top. One of the very best!!!

Worth every penny and a joy to have him in this team!!!

I used to stand on the Kop and admire Hansen and this guy is definitely the closest thing I've seen to him in a Liverpool shirt since then.

Not just the best defender I've seen at Liverpool, he's levels above. He's a level above every other top defender in the league to be fair.
