Assuming we're talking about PC RAM, don't go cheap chinese. Kingston, Crucial, Corsair etc all do some good value kit.

Use something like https://uk.crucial.com/store/systemscanner which scans your PC, tells you the quantity and spec of your existing RAM, and tells you what memory speeds etc are supported by your motherboard.

There is this option, but be mindful not to get fleeced.

Unless I can pull what I need from work stores, I usually buy Crucial for laptop ram (where for me there's no point going 'performance') and Corsair for desktop (though I've bought G.Skill before which was fine).

I don't think I'd put random eBay junk in a PC I was planning to keep and run.

This is where I get all my RAM as well, highly recommended, great value.

(They also do good used laptops).

Hell yeah. In my life I've spent £65 in total on laptops and yet have had about 10 thanks to work... my current main squeeze dates from 2012 but is a quad core i7 with 16GB and a big SSD retrofitted.

My first PC (Dotlink, bought in 1997) had a Cyrix 150+ CPU (rubbish), 32 MB RAM and a 2.5GB hard drive. Everything moved so quickly in those days, I bought a Gateway PC in 2000 that was light years better. And yet in 2021 I'm largely using PCs built with components from 3-5 years ago and not noticing any real gaming issues.

My first PC had a 500mb hard drive... it was poor to be honest.
