So who do you want?

In order of preference: Basel, Porto, Shakhtar, Bayern, Real Madrid, Juventus

Juventus would be a pain to play against as they could stifle us, but then their individual quality isn't as strong as Bayern or Real. I just feel it could be a real bad match-up.

Shakhtar out of the easy sides will be the trickiest. They look well coached and held their own against City. Draw Basel or Porto and we should be fine, as long as we approach the games in a professional manner.

Whoever we get, bring it on.

Avoid the obvious three and we'll have to be happy. Even Bayern wouldn't be the end of the world, would be an awesome tie and one I think we could win.

I think Bayern would be difficult as well.  Huycknes has them playing much different to Ancelotti, --- they are capable of getting on a roll and making Anfield irrelevant.

If everyone is fit, I hope we get Real earlier rather than later. Blitz them while there's plenty of gas in the tank.

It's the worst Real team in quite a few years. They've lost Morata. Bale is often injured. Ronaldo finally showing his age. Beating them would make a real statement.

Hopefully we then get a nice easy QF after that, before an English team, like Spurs, in the semis. By then their forwards should be well and truly depleted.

Anybody but Bayern. Bayern under Heynckes will have just the right balance between attack and defence to make it very difficult for our attack and constantly get at our defence. Real can be a bit gung ho at times and there is a genuine possibility of our attackers tearing them a new a-hole with the extra space afforded. Juve are the exact opposite, they'll sit back and let players like Coutinho/Lallana take control and dictate the game. Against the other three, we should be favorites to progress. My order of preference would be Basel, Porto, Shakthar, Juve, Real, Bayern

I'd probably prefer one of the three easier teams but honestly, I'm not that bothered. We can beat anyone I feel but, conversely, we can also lose to anyone. It all depends which version of Liverpool decide to turn up on any given day. Either way, bring it on.

I would be shocked if Morata made 30 starts for Madrid in his time there - he was hardly a first team regular. Madrid have won several trophies with an injury prone Bale and that old guy who is showing his age has just won the Ballon D'Or!

Lets not kid ourselves that they aren't a seriously strong team. Navas, Ramos, Marcelo, Kroos, Casemiro, Modric, Asensio, Benzema - lets not forget about all those guys.

As great as we are at our fluent best, I don't think we're quite at the 'give us anyone' days we had under Rafa. We're definitely moving in the right direction, though still lack a bit of nous in Europe I think.

With that in mind, I'd rather as easy a draw as possible this round (and agree with the OP's priority order) so we can start to turnaround our ranking. We got extremely lucky with the group this year, considering our terrible seeding.

A win in both legs gets us four coefficient points, plus one for making the quarters. That would only move us to about 25th, which is still rubbish, but if we do something decent in the quarters we'd be approaching the top 20. Then, assuming we qualify for Europe next season, we can start to move up quickly, as we lose the 13/14 points in seeding (a year we weren't in Europe). I don't put much stock in Madrid defensively. I fancy us against Juve - that would be a cracking game. Bayern aren't exactly cracking flags but are the only ones I think would have a counter to our style of play.
Of the other teams in the draw, we'll beat whoever they put in front of us!

Me too, and selfishly that's why I don't want us to get them (haven't been going this year). Would be a great trip there, first competitive game there in a generation.

5 Possibilities - Barcelona cannot play Real Madrid nor Sevilla nor Juventus

6 Possibilities - Man U, Man City, Spurs and Liverpool all have (1 team from their qualifying group out of the running and Chelsea)

Last season, I would have been more confident in our ability to take on the giants and win than the (relative) minnows. This season, it’s been reversed. Still, I don’t think there’s anyone who would fancy us either. Klopp has pedigree in this competition, and regardless of who we get, we’ll have a decent chance of making it to the next round.

I'm not that bothered who we get.

Ok Juve are like a brick wall but against our pace who knows. They won't be bullies like a prem team who can sometime outmuscle us with 10 men behind the ball. In some ways I'm glad Atlectico are not in it. Horrible team.

Not many teams will want to play a Klopp side that simply doesn't play safe and imposes its attacking intent. The only team I wouldn't to face is PSG because our defence wouldn't cope although it could end up being 6 - 6 but we won't..... yet!
