Or we get enough depth to deal with competitions on all fronts, right balance of youth, players on the verge chomping at the bit and experience - just like Chelsea and Spurs did last year.

We have quite a lot of players on the periphery, Woodburn, Wilson, Ojo, Ejaria, Gruijic, Gomez, TAA, Solanke and even Origi to an extent. Adding some first team cover is essential though granted, but these lads are another year older and another pre season along under Klopp so I would expect them to do well in that competition.
Exactly. Klopp and his staff are building a strong U23 team that can push our first team and will surely be used in the cups.

The League Cup?

jesus the amount of sponsors that cup has had

always a good omen for us when a drink sponsors it, milk, coca cola, worthington, carling

this is an energy drink now isnt it?
Another sponsor from Thailand. Carabao is an energy drink here as well as being the name of one of the most famous bands over the last couple of decades.

They are a big competitor with Kratendeang, which is the original Red Bull
In a world of uncertainty and worry, it is calming to know that as a fan of the greatest club in the world I will never walk alone

We'll get less than 48 hours between those two games at the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018, forgot who they were against now but it's nailed on. Chelsea, United and the likes will have 4 days rest probably.

Pretty happy with that to be honest. Looks like the fixture computer randomly put the Merseyside and Manchester derbies on the same weekend, twice. What a fortunate coincidence. Sky Sports super dupper wonderful derby weekend  no corruption there no siree bob.

Be interesting to see if he goes into the winter with a different plan to this season where he just tried to tough it out and play his 'best' team each game and paid the price in Jan - hopefully he'll have more options this time

Looks alright to me. Three away games and three home games is a good breakdown considering teams in the past have had five or six away games. Three of our opponents will also be coming off the back of European games too so they will have no advantage.

That'll be the same for all teams so no drama there. There are no European games in that time period.

Klopp has already insinuated that the kids will get their chances in cup competitions. It's what lies behind his plan in keeping the young players together, rather than sending them off on loans, here, there and everywhere. I would love them to have a successful run in one of those competitions too, to make sure they get plenty of playing time. Then if they are called upon, they will be in a good position to complement the first team squad.

Not a bad set of fixtures all in all, though Christmas is ridiculous as usual.

It's the same for everyone though. It's bloody mental  - a quarter of the league season in 6 weeks.

Above all, we should fuck the league cup off as soon as possible. Trying to get through this period with (hopefully) crucial CL group games at this time, it's imperative not to add games to our schedule - especially given our squad is still thin.

Frankly I'll be pissed off if Jurgen doesn't pick 11 lads from RAWK for the 2nd round of the Caribou Cup, or whatever its called now.

Piss easy start for Man utd  ::)   Anyways what's important is our games against the lesser sides, we had a much better record then Chelsea against the top 6 teams but still finished miles behind.

Would be nice, if we're in the title race, to win it at Chelsea in our penultimate game! ;D

This table shows the alternative premier league view of where our par 1 fixtures fall. The clear noticeable gap in the middle of the season between boxing day and mid February is where we will likely see a drop in our APLT standing with a run of several Par 3s. We will therefore need to be in good standing come christmas to put in a challenge as unless we have a perfect run of games we will come out of the period on the back of a slump in that particular table.

Another notable feature of the season is run of the home games from mid Feb onwards in the season where there are no significant challenges. This will mean to have a good season we will need a near faultless record at home for the final 6 home games whilst at the same time dealing with tough away games almost every other week with Southampton, Man Utd, Crystal Palace, Everton, Chelsea and West Brom. This is likely to be where we will see rotation and squad depth come in to play especially if we are still in Europe, as we go week to week with different challenges. Our experience of the run in this year where we excelled in our away games could pay dividends.
