If Spieth is leading after 36 holes the chances are he's going to win. I don't have any stats to hand but I reckon his Masters collapse if probably the only time he's lost from that kind of position.

His putting game is still hugely off though his iron work is as good as ever.

Yep, his tee to green game is absolutely magnificent this year. If he starts putting the rest of the tour are in all sorts of trouble.

Haven't watched Spieth closely in a few months, but his putting was always his strength - what the hell happened?

That shot from the bunker in the play off was magnificent, but you could sense it coming after his previous shot out of the same bunker in regular play.

Yeah, and his putting doesn't even need to be at the levels it was a couple of years ago. Just a few strokes better than it has been this season and he will be the man to beat most weeks. He's not short off the tee either, he's no Day, Rory or DJ but he's got length with the driver.

Should be a great Open next month.

Agreed mate, even just an average putting performance today would've seen him win by a couple in regulation play.

Jon Rahm -8 today about to win the Irish Open. What a player he is.

Have to think he'll be thereabouts in 2 weeks at the Open.

I was up at Portstewart on Friday. One of the first things we saw was Rahm's eagle at the 14th followed by a great tee shot at the par 3 15th to set up birdie.  He destroyed the par 5's this week, -15 through 16 holes.

It's great to see the pros up close, it's like they're playing a different game to the rest of us.

Young Xander Schauffele took down his first PGA tour event last night and won the Greenbrier.

I've been tipping this lad up for a few weeks now and backed him in the US Open when he finished T5.  Annoyingly I didn't have anything on him this week and he was around 50/1 if I remember correctly.

He is already one of the best Tee to Green players on Tour and he has defo got a Major in him IMO.  Not sure if he's earned an Open place with his win yesterday but I'm certain he will be playing the PGA championship later this year.

I already knew he was one to watch and he's won a PGA event quicker then I expected.

The US are churning out these cracking young golfers at the moment.

Edit: Schauffele does get an invite to the Open.  Wonder how he will go on Links?

He's going to be around at the top for a long, long time.

I love seeing local lads do well as well.

He did.

Top 4 players who had not otherwise qualified made it in.

So Xander Schauffele, Robert Streb, Jamie Lovemark, and Sebastian Munoz are all now qualified for The Open.

This years US PGA Championship won't be shown on sky, or any other TV channel in the U.K. it seems.

I understand them wanting to reach a wider audience by using various media platforms but not showing it on tv at all seems counter productive.

Well jel! Enjoy mate. The 10 am groups look good - Stenson, Spieth and KIm, Oosthuizen, Rose and Thomas followed by Kopeka, Matsuyama and local lad Fleetwood! Fowler, Scott and Casey will be a good trio as will McIlroy, Johnson and Schwartzel.

If you play golf, the best place to go to a tournament is the driving range. The pro usually gets there around an hour before he tees off. Earlier if he wants to work on something. You'll learn a lot watching them practice. And it's generally easier to see them.

The forecast for this area was a higher probability of rain than at the weekend, we got hot and sunny all day, so things may be nicer than predicted.

McIlroy has sacked his caddie, JP. It had been rumoured for a while but its a bit of a strange time to do it, the week of a WGC and the week before the last major of the year.

Even more fun to see McIlroy sell his soul again to a different woman, clubmaker, sponsor, ball designer, pro,     make loads more money than he has, win no more events again, and become the miserable c*nt he is becoming and crash and burn in 2 years never to be heard of again.

Rory finished 2 over.

Spieth is just on the course.
