He's competing with Sami Khedira so at least he knows he'll get in the team.

From his two preseason games he has played, his been very average. Lets see what he is like once he gets upto speed. Like any player/s that want to leave/force a move, I hope he flops!

Yeah, he didn't cause any trouble either and was generally a good player for us.

dammmn! He did nothing wrong.

Liverpool moved on quickly by strengthening the squad. Only down side was that they missed out on a fee - but that's not the fans concern.

The squad we have now is stronger for him leaving. So no bitterness needed.

Been on the pitch less than 15% of their game time and picked up a yellow card in the process.

We were trying to give him a new contract until about six months before he left, we wouldn't have got much for him anyway.

He honored his contract, and didn't agitate for a move, so that was class on his part, compared to the exits arranged by Couties, Sterling, Tom Ince, et al.

Was he going to get playing time this season with Keita and Fabinho coming in?  I doubt that.

He's getting sub appearances only at Juve.

He just moved on, and we've replaced him or upgraded on his position.  No hard feelings on either side.

Sami Khedira extended his contract at Juve too, he very much is part of the furniture there at this point!  Not getting into the Germany squad may actually help Emre now, as I thunk other than Khedira, the other midfielders at Juve would have been on international duty this week, so maybe this weekend will see him get a start.

Can we have some players withdraw from their respective squads due to "injury"? Pun maybe intended.

I had a quick read about it, apparently it's quite common in young men (one in 40 I think it was) and 95 per cent of cases are benign. So fingers crossed it's all OK.

Has there ever been a player who chose to leave the club rather than the club wanting them to leave that has been missed as little as Emre Can? I genuinely keep forgetting he existed.

We are doing well, so all seems good

But emre would have had a world of mins due to injuries to other.s Judging from keita and oxlade, klopp loves  a midfielder that can run with the ball

Generally you only miss a player that’s left when you are either struggling, or the player is Luis Suarez standard.

I always think of Rushie when I think of players leaving and hating seeing it ( I was too young for Keegan) I remember thinking it was the end of the world seeing him leave for Juve (I was 11 to be fair) and yet it turned out to be great for the club, the players that came in as a result were brilliant and probably made us into the best Liverpool side I have ever watched. So now whenever I see this player or that player (Coutinho & Suarez most recently) leave and all the hand wringing that goes with it I always think well it worked out OK with Rushie so hopefully it will this time too.

Nice post mate - I had just turned 6 years old when Rushie signed for Juve, and was the first person in my family to have the footy bug so I didn’t have my wits about me to know what was going on around the time. I did get to enjoy the amazing team that was assembled after his sale, and then Rushie’s return.

Keegan was a big hero of mine so obviously was gutted when he said he was leaving, I was 10 at the time of Rome 77. One morning a few weeks later, goes and gets the Mirror for my Dad, back page headline is we've signed Dalglish and I legged it all the way home, bursting with excitement. It was quickly Kevin who??

As for Can, I'd actually forgotten all about him, I doubt anyone has thought wish he was still here. The bigger miss for us in Ox.

Since Keegan, the only times I have been worried re players leaving was Souness and Suarez. Souness just because he left a big hole that we would struggle to fill, it took until McMahon to sort it and Suarez was purely because we had no-one to take over from him and I never thought Brendan had the pull to attract the players we needed.

Souness is a good shout too, again it was too early in my Liverpool watching days for me to realise how important he was, it was only later watching back that i understood how good he was.
