Simeone has to start making alterations for games like this if he plans on winning La Liga again. Playing 4 central midfielders against teams like Leganes is overkill. They have no pace in midfield, no width and nobody who can take players on. They'll probably go on and win this game anyway but they don't score anywhere near enough goals.

Would love Leganes to win this game, Atletico are turgid to watch and are very negative even against the smaller clubs.

Ah, fair enough. They should win, but by god they make these kind of games look more difficult than CL knockout matches.

2 games against promoted sides and they haven't even managed a goal from open play. 4 points behind Real already and I'd say their next game against Celta Vigo is borderline must win already.

Turgid. Not far off being fucked in the title race already, you just can't drop many stupid points with the rate the other two win at. Over here it wouldn't be a big deal but 4 points there is a lot!

Well done Leganes great start to the season, as for Atletico they have had a shocker of a start.

I think that Champions League heartbreak from last season is still effecting them. Hence the average performances they have put in so far.

Gameiro doesn't seem to fit their style of play either and to me it seemed like a bizarre signing when they bought him. I don't see Gameiro scoring many goals for them, instead of buying Gameiro and Gaitan they should of bought Lacazette.

Good game this. Bilbao not letting Barça have it all their own way and pressing them high up but Barça showed their class to go one up. Not sure how long Bilbao can keep the pressing going without leaving gaps on the break again.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid lose transfer ban appeals
Can't sign any players in the next two transfer windows.

I don't follow Spanish football. Is it critical for them or do they have enough players to last for that period of time?

Many (you could argue haters of Spanish football) predicted signings galore for both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid due to the transfer ban that was going to be imposed. That didn't really happen. I don't think Madrid bought anybody except returning Morata. Atletico Madrid tried to sign a striker but had problems with it all summer long. I don't think Gameiro is all that.

To be honest, both clubs are well-equipped. Few signings that Madrid can make to improve their team was going to be hard with or without the ban. Atletico Madrid have areas that they can improve, but they have a handful of talented players on loan. I think they can be OK by returning these players next summer.

These transfer bans haven't made any negative impact to Barca's, Real Madrid's or Atletico Madrid's plans so far. Individual players, however, may have to suffer the consequences, e.g., Arda and Vidal couldn't be registered so they didn't play for half a year.

Real are set up well with the level of young players around the club & on loan.

Atletico could be screwed if the likes of Gameiro & Vrsaljko dont fit Diegos style. Gabi, Torres & the fullbacks may not have 18 months left at the top. Majority of his signings seem to flop or not fit in.

Brilliant performance from Atletico and they look to be back on track, wonderful brace Griezmann don't write off Cholo's boys just yet.

good change of tactics from Simeone as well, he's binned of using Tiago or Augusto today and put Carrasco instead one of them.

Ronaldo is phenomenal, hasn't played a game for two months comes back from injury and score straight away.

Alaves 1 up at Barcelona. Half time.

Barca XI: Cillessen; Vidal, Mathieu, Mascherano, Digne; Busquets, Rakitic, Denis; Neymar, Arda, Alcácer.

They have Suarez, Rafinha and Messi on the bench (probably resting them after the WC Qualifiers and before the CL game on Tues), as well Iniesta too...

but fair play to Alaves - nicely taken goal from Deyverson too - https://twitter.com/oussamaderkal/status/774691472213934080

Indeed. Harsh to sack the coach that got them up but Pellegrino seems to be doing a good job. Tough start, Atletico away drew 1-1 Sporting Gijon home drew 0-0, pundits lambasting them for being too negative- manage to score 2 and get the win at Camp Nou. Fair play
