Yes, the Derby was a televised Sunday afternoon game. And I was at that Arsenal game too.

I didn’t go to many that season but went to some classics: the Derby, arsenal and the Forest 5-0. Decent introduction to the Mighty Reds!

Dudek was the one who'd been rumoured to be signing for a bit, but then on the day there had been rumours that Dudek had failed a medical, due to a problem with a blood test I think. 

Maybe then they got the bid accepted for Kirkland, and went with that regardless, with an eye on the longer term. But I doubt that was the real reason, I can't imagine both would have signed.
