Last time we played Shrewsbury in 1996. Also in the 4th round away.

Stanley loved that left foot drag finish.
94 Corner to us. Last kick. Ali in the box and he’s scored

I was in the away at that match and I think it was 1-1 when the lights went out? Rushie's goal ruled out by Bristol late on but they looked on top!
Could be wrong though as my memory isn't what it used to be!!! 26 years ago!

Yep first game had to be abandoned.

We'll want to avoid a replay at all costs as I think it eats into the winter break. We'd be putting a real weakened team out for that, so it's good we've avoided a big Prem team/rival.

Not that I am trying to be negative, but in the unlikely event a replay is needed, when would the game at Anfield take place?  We have PL games on the 1st and 15th of Feb but nothing in between due to the winter break.

The times he and Fowler were in sync we were brilliant. The team scored 3 plus goals so many times that season, particularly at home.

Really hoping Bristol City go through - Ashton Gate is a ten-minute walk from where I live. Haven't been to a match since 2007 due to cancer treatment and dodgy health so this would be my best chance.

So most likely 4/5th of Feb right? As opposed to 11th/12th?

Bristol are home to Gloucester in the rugby Premiership on Saturday 25th January. If Bristol City win their cup replay at Shrewsbury, the Ashton Gate pitch isn't going to be in great condition for a football match only twenty-fours later.

Shrewsbury is arguably harder to get to than Bristol!

Closer, but motorway ends at Telford..

Bristol's a nice city actually. A lot of similarities with Liverpool.
The most northern southern city in some ways.

Still want Shrewsbury though for an easy by haha

Looking at the fixtures, I think the line ups in the league will be pretty settled in January with little or no rotation. So I think a number of players will make their return from injury in this game.

'We'll be running around Wembley with the Cup' is a chant I really miss, maybe this season it will get an airing from The Kop!

I still love the FA Cup, and hope we go for it big style, there's no reason with the squad we've got we can't go on and win this. Who are the favourites with the bookies by the way, must be a tough one to call with such unpredictable team line ups.

Bristol City fan with a fondness for Liverpool (came to Anfield for the Watford game last season) here.

IF we beat Shrewsbury (taking nothing for granted, we are playing like absolute dogshite at the moment) then there will be no problem with the pitch. We have many rugby games the night before a football match and it’s always in perfect condition, one of the best in the championship for sure.

I'd like to see us go for it a bit more. I mean, we're 13 points clear (potentially rising to 16 if we win our game in hand). If that was a smaller cushion I'd understand us lashing the kids out, I think the Everton game was maybe a necessity to do so after the January we'd just had but I'd now like to see us take it seriously.

If we're not going to go for it when we're 13 points clear with a game in hand, when will we ever go for it? We've earned this cushion - I think it's only right that we now try and reward ourselves with (hopefully) another trophy

While I do think Klopp will see the cup as potentially very important development time for players like Jones, Williams, Brewster (if here) and Elliott there will also be two massively key differences in subsequent rounds. Firstly, they won't usually represent the 4th of 4 games in 10 days. Secondly, we've got a huge number of important players coming back to fitness. As a result, subsequent rounds will also be essential for giving minutes to players like Minamino and Origi, and for getting players like Matip, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita fit and sharp again. I know Klopp obviously likes his first 11 but I could see the rest of the season having more occasions with two or three changes per game and slightly fewer where we bench a whole 11 just because of the sheer quality we have coming back, the necessity of giving those players minutes and getting them fit, as well as being able to take the edge off the immense workload we've put on players like Hendo, VvD and Mane so far this season.
