Match 30 update:

Chelsea have a tougher run-in than we do, & haven't been good against the top half of the table

Thanks JP.  Interesting that no-one else in the top 7 has declined on like for like results on last season.  Obviously some from a low starting point, but all have progressed or stayed consistent in this season

Leicester are going to be interesting on this run in, think they took 8 points from their last 8 games last season, and with only 7 from their last 5, I wouldn't be surprised to see them within sights for us and others looking to get into the top 4.
Didi Hamann

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

Yup, they ended badly last season, would be good if they repeat as it then opens up 2 CL spots.

Hammers have a difficult fixture list to go, like Chelsea.  They haven't done particularly well against the top teams so far this season.

Now the best against the top half of the table, as well as against the top 7 teams, but the worst against the bottom half.

Spurs by far the worst against the top half.

City almost perfect against the bottom half.

Weird season :o

By avoiding defeat at Burnley, Liverpool have ensured another season without losing home and away to the same opponent.

It hasn't technically happened under Klopp - it did occur to United in 2015/16, but he was only in charge for one of the matches.

Amazing that, despite all our CB injuries, we're currently 4th in the league defensively.

City 32  Chelsea 34  Arsenal 39  LFC 42

What's even more amazing is that a sixth of our total came in one match!

Without the Villa 7, we're pretty much on par with the best (even more incredible).

What it does point out though, less 7 scored against Palace....our issue this season has been scoring goals.

The difference between City & ourselves this season....it's where we let in 1 and City didn't and where they scored 1 and we didn't....fine margins.

I remember thinking when the centre-backs were dropping like flies we could forget about regular clean sheets and that if we could score two we'd be fine in most matches. Kind of worked out that way, except the goals dried up in ways I'd have never imagined.

For sure....I was amazed we kept going until Matip went down, then we were toast.

I think this good run at the end of the season shows how Klopp & his team can have a positive impact when they have time to train the squad.
We only became good again (even while our resources are still worse off) when we had sufficient break time between matches for recovery/train/prep vs just recovery/prep.

20-21 Final Results:

All the teams were improved over prior season, ex ourselves, for understandable reasons.

United were bottom of the mini table, says a lot about their quality

Top teams were improved over last season, but not compared to the prior two

Lots of nuance in the results matrix, home vs away, top vs bottom
