Alright ladies and gents, just wondering if any of you remember Andrew Hannahs equaliser against burslew port vale to preserve our only unbeaten full season in the 1893/4 season, to clinch our promotion from the second tier. Scored from a bounce ball on their line, after the ball was lost in a scrimmage(ruck) on the port vale  line

it was dry hot sunny day and there was a lot of dust kicked up by the heavy rain and freezing wind, I remember it well

Yes but a lot of times he wouldn't go because he was kept well away from the players. Like if there was a bus for the players and one for the directors he was always put on the directors bus, same with the hotels.

I saw him in Rome in 77. But you couldn't get near him, as he was mobbed by all and sunder.
I think he was doing a bit of work for Radio City.

Ah I had visions of him being guest of honour by the Club bit disappointed by that.

How lucky were you to get to Rome?  The closest I got to it was the motor home my dad and his mates hired, I can still picture that sitting outside the house; dead posh it was.  Oh for those days again. There I am reminiscing again, I'll be called an auld arse soon  ;D

Ha! don't get the wrong impression Terry, yep that was a luxury but it was one we couldn't afford.  Still looking back I'm glad they pushed the boat out on it, he at least got to one Euro final before he died, so I suppose it was priceless.

You know for a young lad as you must have been around what, 17, you were certainly adventurous, thinking about it though were you even old enough to have a passport?

I went away with my school to France when I was 16, so I had have a passport for that ( pretty sure it was a 12 month one), and yes I was 17 in 77.

I had a pen pal from France when I was kid. He wrote perfect English, all I could do was ask for the time and ask for directions to the tourist information centre.

hitch hiked to the south of france when I was 19 - great times, 2 of us both over 6 bfoot sharing a girl guides tent for one, got a lift off a tatooed one armed female wrestler  from Blois and a priest who'd lost his faith, saw a werewolf, red eyes and all and was stranded in Montpellier with no money and a longing for food - great times lived off bread,  fruit, wine and coffee and came back a different man - well 2 stone lighter -

Used to do it to most of the aways.  I would throw a fit if my girls decided to hitch.
