Spirit of Shankly
« on: June 14, 2010, 10:06:03 pm »
right all,

after our hardworking and sometimes overstretched Secretary Graham and his admin team has now got all the paperwork in place   ... the green light has now been given for new branches

can interested parties add their intentions here and where your subscribing from and also whether you may like to garner enough support to start your one or join one thats in the process of being set up

at the moment  i believe New Zealand , Birmingham , London ,Dubai and Skem  may be the first wave of offshoots

I'm hopeful Graham can confirm any others pending so what are you waiting for .... which branch would you be affiliated too ?   :thumbup

good luck

If there is enough support for one in South Wales I would look at helping out running a branch but due to my illness I would not always be able to guarantee my attendance but I am always online.....

Thanks Roy, just when I thought I might get a few days to catch up after the EGM and before the serious planning for the Rally :-)

Anyone interested in setting up a branch should email me at secretary@spiritofshankly.com (by all means ppst interest on here but if you'll forgiveme I won't reply to all posts on here just the emails).

I've got background information and once we have a serious interest from some one prepared to takle on the branch organisation we will email all current SOS members in your chosen postcode or country passing on your email address for them to contact you.

Full support will be given before and after launch of any branch. Currently looking at a second London branch and one for Wales. Scouser Tommy (the website have the honour of being the first branch) but I'd expect Sweden to be second.

Midlands and Bristol also being looked at.

And I'm only joking - if you're serious about giving it a go get in touch.

In Norway we have about 30-40  local supporter clubs called "liverbirds" that is some sort of undergroups of the scandinavian branchs. (Some of these are big) I think SOS should contact every single one of these "Liverbird clubs" and invite them to join the Union as a group, instead of as single persons. A fixed fee pr head in the different clubs, or whatever they can afford. That way I think that SOS can get a helluva lot more members.
I`ve sent SOS the mailinglist for these clubs and hopefully something can be sorted out. So hopefully someone involved at higher level at SOS can get to this asap.

Okay, I'd previously said to SOS luminaries that I'd be happy to help out down here,  I work in the City, and live in North Kent.

Graham put me in touch with a lad from Surrey who is setting up a branch down there, but I thought we must be able to drum up something more centrally.

At this stage, very embryonic, just trying to gauge interest levels, here and on RAOTL - I don't go on any other forums, so feel free to spread the word.

Next step will be a meeting, probably in a pub in Central London, suggestions welcome - not on a power trip or anything, but I'll get some relevant info from Graham on constitution etc.

I am from Columbus (Ohio) myself (and soon to shift base to Baltimore) but I do not know one genuine fan in this city. Do you, from where you live? I am hoping there would be some in the DC/ Baltimore area. If there are, I am ready to help.

Having said that, I think one branch on the east coast (NY) and one on the west (LA) would be great to start with.

DC should have loads of Reds from what I hear. Sign up with the US Reds next year. A guy called Roy Yates is in charge and from his weekly magazines, I do know that a bunch of Reds get together in DC. Lemme know if you venture down furthur south sometime  :wave

On topic though, the east coast is too huge to have only one branch mehtinks. I`ll try pinging Roy and seeing if a branch could be sorted for the south-east. I think Connie could possibly have NY/North East sorted with that city having its own supporters club

Would a North America/USA branch be more appropriate from the apparent fragmenting of our locations?

Though i suppose east/west/central could also be good if there was enough interest.

it has got a certain ring to it KK,  and it would look good on a flag    ;D

at the moment the constitution states the framework for a branch should be no less than 50 and no more than 100
but this will be reviewed in due course if the  situation demands it

however, the less than 50 can be relaxed 'somewhat'  if a branch is struggling to garner enough hands i believe

Would like to know about NZ details too please.

again my colleague Graham  will send you the relevant info on the NZ Branch

and anyone wanting to have a gander

A few lads on other forums have asked me about this. I put them onto Graham. I don't know if they followed up on it. But I'll point them in here now. Good stuff. We need to get the message out.... that's the key to this. Getting people educated to what is really happening at the club and that they can fight back.
