The new Rammstein is brilliant.

Love the video for 'Deutschland' - very much looking forward to the album.

Enjoying new releases by Sleeper, Lucy Rose, and Idlewild at the moment - 2019 continuing to deliver for me.

Sleater-Kinney is the big one I'm waiting on though...

Next week is the Drugdealer record, I am thoroughly looking forward to it after his last one made my top ten of 2016.

Also be getting the Lizzo album as the whole family is well into that 'Juice' tune. She's great.

Haven't posted in this thread for a while, but I'm still listening to music! Here are a few favourite discoveries of mine so far this year:

1) Snapped Ankles - Drink and Glide
Straight out of an early 80s time warp, Snapped Ankles bring us tree yoga.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlpWWxpBbMs

2) Cherry Glazerr – Daddi
Should be called 'Daddi Issues'. Fantastic all-round album.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qauxIW9O2Q

3) Croatian Amor - In Alarm Light
Reminds me of 'Hana' by Asa-Chang & Junray, which was like discovering a new genre of music when I first heard it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppdIMOVPElM

4) Young'uns - Any Bread
A message that will become more and more relevant as time goes on, no doubt. Should be used in history and economics classes everywhere.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7awjjTuvPXo

5) Mono - Nowhere Now Here
A fine return from Japan's preimere post-rock band. They've branched out a bit on the new album, but this track is classic slow-building to a crescendo Mono. Classical music with loud guitars.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SACXQsvMk-4

6) Entrepreneurs - Say So!
Don't know anything about the Entrepreneurs, but loving the new album.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Rsv2EwMOiY

7) Frances Cone - Failure
Pop music at its best.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AELIyvofdc

8) Martha - Love Keeps Kicking
Best band in Durham are back with a stonking indie wrangle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alvyveBeqEw

9) Manfred Hamil - Give Up
Another great electronic tune from Farnborough's favourite uncle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8yIxkIq8og

10) JD Meatyard - Broken Arm Jesus
Absolutely no idea what this song is about. Whole album is great.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T8wlfWnSGY

11) Calva Louise - I Heard A Cry
Another band I know nothing about, but this song rocks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsR0AAggwGI

12) Swervedriver - Mary Winter
The comeback continues from Reading's second greatest ever band?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVBsk10R_tA

13) Tallies - Mother
Haven't included much twee on this list, but this is twee. I guess Martha was twee, but this is twee-er. Single released last year, but debut album released in Jan.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBO_LIqtmOA

14) Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock
The old man of indie is back and sounding as good as ever. Looks like this was released as a single last year as well. Album is a bit hit and miss.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHQUyZnS7qo

15) Angelic Milk - Acid & Coca-Cola
And finally, a sign-a-long with everyone's favourite Russian shoegaze band. Album is a cracker.

Quite liking that Drugdealer thing. Massively retro, but very likable and slightly odd. mate sent me an album by someone called Mdou Moctar. Know nowt about him, but seems to be another of these Tuareg desert rock lads like Tinariwen or Imarhan. Sounds nice. No idea what he's singing about, but I'm sure it's very deep and meaningful. Or maybe the opposite.

Anyone into Brutus? Their 2019 effort carried me through work today like Van Dijk will have to carry the left back through the Porto first-leg.

This is absolutely brilliant. So much raw energy explodes from this trio. Very grungey but emotive at the same time. Boss band.

HVOB's 'Rocco' is another fantastic release which appears to have flown under the radar. Sweet melodic vocals over beats that are Jon Hopkins esque. Some of the lyrics are very jarring, but certainly worth holding an ear to.

Am I the only one who thinks the Fontaines album is dull and boring? Say this as a person who was very excited about the album - as a few will testify too. Plus the accent is a bit put on, not to get into Dublin class politics but the accent they are hanging their hats on is not really the accent they have IRL. Also The Fall comparisons are way over blown. Singles were great, album is a bit meh to my ears - very safe.

Sunn O))) album on the other hand..... album of the year contender A.

Quite like it, really. I don't get the Fall references, either. More Clash vibes if anything.

New Sunn O))) is a thing of beauty. Meditative cinderblocks of sounds. Sounds a riot turned up loud.

Enjoyed the new album by Aldous Harding (Designer)

Given Kevin Morby's Oh My God a few listens. Bit more variance in his palette and some interesting production stuff. Feels a bit like he's still plowing the same furrow though, which is both good and bad I suppose. The nuts and bolts of the songs often sound like you've heard them before. Then a nice production touch will sweep you up and distract you.

Bits of the new Wand album are great but I've not made it all the way through yet.

The Damien Jurado one is boring to be honest. Letdown after I loved his last one (some might say he was already boring ;D - to those I say, definitely don't bother with this one!) Newspaper Gown is a good tune though.

The last track on the Comet Is Coming LP is superb, lovely bit of Cosmic Jazz.

Really digging Kankyo Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980-1990 - good ambient compilation. Especially Original BGM by Haruomi Hosono - great for chilling the kids out when they're being daft.

May have a date with 'heavy' tomorrow. Sunn O needs a proper listen, as does Sly and The Family drone album released on Friday. Last track is a winner tho (below). First sniff of Cognitive Dissonance by ORCHESTRA OF CONSTANT DISTRESS may need a good go too.

Hahahaha! Partly yeah. But I mean its a very sparse record - and to get away with sparse, you need to be pretty incredible and I don't think his tunes on this are as good as the last. Few great tracks but overall, I won't have it on as much as the last one.

Love singer-songwriters, as all on here know, I'm a bad sucker for the early 70s kind of guy. Just think he's bitten off more than he can chew this time around with the pared down sound.

Went back and bought the first Sam Evian album, absolutely loving it. Also dug out Solomon Burke's 'Don't Give Up On Me' from 2002, the first half of that especially is pure gold.

Her best yet, although I don't think it's that much a departure from her last one which was obviously brilliant, too. In all though, this one feels slightly more refined.

2) Cherry Glazerr – Daddi
Should be called 'Daddi Issues'. Fantastic all-round album.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qauxIW9O2Q

Cheers for all the recommendations!

In regards to the above, it's a deliberate and conscious play on the theme. It's not a cheap "cool slut" trick (which would be perfectly fine though).

That song is 100% a satirical song. A lot of people in the crowd would be like, ‘Oh, so sexy! Yeah!’ And I’d be like, ‘Ugh it’s not, though! [speaks in strange, creepy old voice] It’s really not.’ But that’s OK because I want people to feel confused about it.
