He's got the grit to go along with the game. Pretty sure I saw him squaring up to some fella around the 88th minute mark  :D

Tell you what, we've got some exciting young lads, haven't we? (In a non-Kenneth Williams kind of way).

Let's hope he doesn't get injured!

Some really nice stuff from him tonight. Took a while to really get into it but you could see his confidence growing as the game went on. Showed vision and intelligence, with the skill to back it up. Looks very promising indeed.

For some a young pup, really encouraging, especially his readiness to show and handle the ball in tight situations. Best thing you can say is you just get the impression he has “it”

Very tidy and composed, in time we'll see that confidence grow in the final 3rd where he is devastating with goals and assists.

Klopp very happy with him:

Quote
"If you are in our squad, you are good football player. I have been in the business long enough not to throw players in who are not ready. Neco Williams can play, people might be surprised with Tyler Morton but he did exceptionally well. He is a good player and really pleased for him that he put a performance in like this."

Wonder if he'll get a loan at some point (i.e. Elliot) or sticks around the first team like Jones and has his minutes gradually increased.

He's the kind of player who it's always handy to have in the squad and we're short of. A deeper midfield who does a lot of the dirty work, but he's good on the ball as well.

I don't think there's much need. The lad's got a good spot in the squad to play these spare games where he'll get enough minutes at his age and try and prove himself as a back-up for Fabinho. I think the difference with Elliot was that while Gini was there, there was no chance he was going to get many minutes whatsoever.

He's in the perfect spot right now where he can train regularly with the first team squad and play these spare games where needed and slowly gain experience. At the end of the day, if you can fill these spots in the squad with positions young players coming through (like with Jones, Williams) then it solves a massive headache of not having to buy back-up players and also fills the homegrown quota.

For a 19 year old playing his first CL game I think not doing much wrong is close to standing out. Played it simple and remained calm even in tight spaces and nearly always kept the ball or picked the right option. So nothing outstanding but you can just see there’s a hell of player in there

Based on his performance,  I think he can continue to get game time, esp with our injuries and the league and FA cups to come. It's easier to get minutes in midfield than it is up front or at the back.

We don't really have a stand in for Fab so I think we just let him progress where he is.

Having the confidence on the ball and to play those long passes shows he has something about him.

Only knew of him by name before this season and hadn't watched him in the 18s/23s but he doesn't look out of place. Nice to have another midfield body with the more senior players missing quite a few games. Sure he'll relish playing at the San Siro in a couple of weeks which will be well deserved.

I agree. We can argue semantics over when he might be ready for full duty, but for a one off game against an opponent that could have twisted him, he did very well. An excellent experience for him.

He grew into the game, showed for the ball, passed fairly well and got stuck in. Can’t really ask for more. He’s bigger than I thought, though needs to grow into his frame a bit more. Hard to say whether he has a long term career at Liverpool as we are so good, but he certainly didn’t look out of place, so well done that lad!

One to watch.

Took the ball under pressure repeatedly and didn't give it away. Cut out a certain goal when Taremi squared his one-on-one. Started the move for the second goal with the ball over the top for Salah.

The hardest things in football are the simple things.

I get the sentiment, but they're not are they. The hardest things are the things that only the likes of Salah can do, and those things aren't simple. Perhaps only one other player in world football could do what he did to City for the 2nd goal, and it wasn't simple.

Very composed on the ball, happy to wriggle left or right to get himself a yard before playing the simple pass.  Has some filling out to do, but not being tiny will help him so much in the modern game.

Kept it simple, seemed calm under pressure and wasn't scared to dish out a few orders to others either! Made a couple of great last ditch tackles too from memory where he was the only one who seemed alert to the danger. Impressive stuff, looking forward to seeing more from him.
