Bienvenu big man!

Excited about this signing, he looks the ideal centre back for how Klopp wants us to play. We’ll be hounding other teams around the halfway line and keeping them penned in for 20 minutes at a time again.

I've never seen him kick a ball and he was an unused sub against us twice this season but Klopp says he's good in the air AND mobile  :champ

Coming from RBL he shouldn't need to adapt too much to how we play and he'll have a decent pre-season with us so here's to a flying start from the young man.

We need KH's fashion approval on his attire now, then the deal is complete.

From RB Leipzig’s official site:

Au revoir, Ibou! Ibrahima Konaté will leave the Bulls to join English Premier League side Liverpool on 1st July 2021. The centre defender leaves the club after four successful years and signed a long-term contract with the Reds.

Konaté joined the club on a free transfer from French second-division club FC Sochaux in the summer of 2017, at 18 years of age. After two appearances for U19 team, he made his professional RBL debut in October 2017.

Ibou was able to break through into the starting lineup within a short time and formed what was the youngest centre-back pairing in the Bundesliga for a time alongside French compatriot and friend Dayot Upamecano. Konaté was part of the team that reached the final of the DFB Pokal for the first time in club history in May 2019.

The two seasons that followed brought injury difficulties and as a result, Konaté has only featured on 32 occasions over the past two campaigns.

The 22-year-old wore the RBL colours a total of 97 times (95 for the first team), scoring four goals and providing one assist.

We say MERCI and wish you a successful time in the Premier League!

He seems like a perfect fit...

On a serious note, great to see the business still being done promptly and efficiently.

Good stuff. I've been keen on his signing for longer than Samie. Just cos I don't go on about it  :-*

Likewise, although I’m just a minion in the #KonatéKartel

Very pleased with this signing, that 35mŁ fee is going to be a bargain.

Bienvenue, Ibou!

yeah the muscle fibre injuries where all the same thing - a persistent right hip flexor problem, he then had surgery in July 2020 to fix it.

If he stays fit I have no doubts he will be an absolute steal of a signing, if he was English we would be paying Ł70M+ for him
