OK thanks, I'm going to wait.

Does anyone know how I can stop the pop up messages on my screen from Apple inviting me to click on it and download the new/latest version of Sierra?
Click remind me tomorrow often enough and maybe the insistent cow will give up...

Really hoping they bring out a new Mac Mini sometime soon.

Got a mid-2011 model and whilst it still runs like a dream it's maxed out at 8GB which isn't really enough for my main machine anymore.

I had two Minis and they are by far the best machines Apple made.
So negligently left by the side by Apple. They are reasonably priced, upgradeable and just bloody work. It would be nice to see a new one, but I won´t hold my breath, they aren´t really invested in Macs these days.

They've said they still remain part of their future, and rumoured to be releasing a new one this year, but just hope it's sooner rather than later as really needing to upgrade soon.

If not may be tempted to buy an old Mac Pro chassis (not the cylinder one) and building something.

Who said it's maxed at 8GB? If it was apple, you'll likely to be able to put it to 16GB.

Excellent. Yeah Apple specs are max 8GB but just done a quick search and seem you're right that can up it to 16GB.

Ta for that.

Anyone know why a USB 'My Passport' external HD won't be recognised on my Macbook desktop? Is there a way to 'force' the mac to acknowledge that it's there??

Still don't even see it. When I plugged it in, the icon appeared once, then the error message about not having ejected it properly appeared (which happens if you just unplug without ejecting) and it stubbornly refuses to acknowledge the HD's existence now.

Start with the boring stuff like -1. is the cable in properly? 2. Try a different cable 3. Check the USB port for debris

You won't regret that SSD upgrade. It's like liquid speed for the mac.

Zero, cheers - done all the usual boring stuff - I suspect I just need a new Passport drive..........gonna get a TB or higher anyway so I can 'clean' lots of crap off the HD here.

Likely the drive has just died but check something else in the port and make sure it it's not that. Or, try the drive on another device, telly or playstation etc.

They (Apple) are also noticeably sloppier then say 5-10 years ago. If you're doing seriuos work on your Mac - wait with updates.

What version of OS are you on?  My experience with external drives on Macs (Especially for moving/deleting files) is that you need Paragon NTFS - an external software for managing your drives.  It's a great piece of software to enable reading and modifying files, copying and creating new files and folders, format and repair NTFS partitions in Mac OS.  Been using Paragon for 7 years now

Picked up a 2010 Macbook Pro there recently, threw an SSD into it and installed Sierra and its ticking along nicely. No plans to install High Sierra for a good while. Not seen the greatest reports of it.

Should I go ahead and update to the latest version of Sierra on my imac or wait?

It keeps popping up on my screen telling me to download it.
Wait. It's buggy.
I'll drop a post in here when my mate gives the all clear.
I'm waiting because there was an issue with the beta on fusion drives, can't risk my iMac, gonna wait til Jan.

Have had it installed on my MacBook air since beta and not had a single issue to report though! Well, apart from the root thing but no-one has access to the machine outside of the house.
I've waited almost 3 months now.

Am I good to go?      :)

A quick question, should I disconnect my external hard drive 1st?

Trying to sort out my MacBook Pro and iTunes - hot a Seagate 1TB hard drive that works perfectly and has all my music on.

I have an old Seagate HD that was working fine earlier.

Went out and came back and now it shows it disk utility but does not open.

Any ideas?

What's the issue - that the external drive is showing in disk utility but you can't access it otherwise? Or connect it to iTunes?

Can you see a volume under it in disk utility? If so can you mount it from there?

Anyone had or heard of any High Sierra issues with the latest update that's just been released, 10.13.5 before I install the fucker?

Ever since High Sierra was installed I've noticed a really annoying issue with Skype, in that each time you use it, the camera disables after each call and the only way to reset it is to restart the macbook. Fucking knobheads pissing about with stuff they don't need to........

So - any bugs in 10.13.5?
