Hello,
I'm new to this thread, please be gentle!
My parents are moving so I have spent the weekend clearing out their loft which is where I came across our computer from 1984 - a BBC B with a dual disk drive, monitor, stand and dot matrix printer. I also found a load of discs full of games (about 100 discs in total) and so I figured I would see if I could get it all working again. I set it all up and turned it on and it all started like it was brand new (the loading DER DA sound brought back loads of memories)! It's even got an early version of Word on it and some sort of primitive spreadsheet programme too but I can't for the life of me remember how to get that working. Still, it's working perfectly and it wasn't until I loaded it that I remembered how hard Fortress is! I'm going to get some hours in playing Elite at some point too.
I just wondered if anyone can remember how to get "Word" and the spreadsheet programme started (from memory I think it was something like *WORD on the start screen) and also whether anyone has any idea whether it's worth anything at all and I should stick it on ebay or whether I should keep it nice and safe until I maybe have kids so that I can show them what I was using when I was younger? It's 32K which I guess is less than a Tesco pay as you go phone right?!
Also, and this is really random; I found a can of Virgin coke but in a blue can that I kind of remember being part of a competition they ran when I was in my first year at Uni in the mid 90s. I've done a search and can't find anything on blue Virgin coke cans and just wondered whether anyone had any memory of this? There's something about them being used as part of a marketing campaign in that they said that off coke turns cans blue (shortly after Pepsi released a new bright blue can) but I remember this being part of a competition run on multi-packs. If anyone can fill me in that would be great!
Cheers.
