And he is injured in training

The senior players have all done their time being injured now it's the youth players turn.

You're not considered a proper part of the team until you've missed at least a year through injury...

He'll have a very decent career, wherever that may be.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/7B3Gko_B-UM" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/7B3Gko_B-UM</a>

Lovely stuff. Does the basics very very well, at the moment it's a bit like he is in awe but just keep giving him little cameos and making him grow in confidence and he will be fine, the kid is a player

Watch at 1:45 when he passes to Toure and automatically drops in to cover when Toure passes him in midfield, simple but smart, you'd think that would be a basic minimum skill for professional footballers but so many don't do it!

To be honest I'm wondering if this is less about the shot he blocked and more about the horror challenge he received against West Ham.  I was surprised he recovered quickly enough given how much he was limping around after it,  that he was fit enough to play a bit at Villa.  I reckon the damage was done in the West Ham challenge and he didn't realise how serious it was and the blocked shot was the final straw.

Shame for the lad,  but if he's as good as people hope he'll be back!
Rossiter absolutely bossed it tonight. Really believe he'll end up playing more games this season than Lucas.

Very very impressed with the lad, is technically sound, decent range of passing, good off both feet. I'd be happy for him to get plenty more time before the end of the season.

He was hurt in training. The club have no reason to say otherwise.

Because the club didn't recognize or properly look at the injury from the West Ham game, continued to play him/train with him and don't want the media to pick up on the fact that our already under pressure medical team have failed to diagnose an injury post West Ham?

Or possibly he was injured before the West Ham game and the club knowingly put him in a vulnerable position where he could get clobbered.

It's time for you to step away from the keyboard, take that tin foil hat off and take a break for a bit

In what possible way are our medical team under pressure? Are they going around pulling hamstrings on purpose, are they tearing ACLs or doing whatever Sturridge has done? What they have done is work with the manager and get Sturridge back fit, allow players to recover from hamstring injuries and seamlessly slot straight back into the team

In fairness there are plenty of incidents where players get an injury,  carry on playing,  and subsequently break down or find the injury more serious that first thought.  Didn't Borini play with a foot injury that turned out to be a break a couple of seasons ago?  Because Stewart was probably desperate not to get injured so soon after his first team breakthrough doesn't mean the training ground injury wasn't because of the West Ham tackle. The tackle weakened the ligament significanlty,  the training inicident finished it off.  No way they aren't connected..........unless it's a different leg,  of course :)

Well, if you want to argue with the boss...

Quote from: Jurgen Klopp
“Kevin blocked a shot and his ankle was not stable,” he said. “It was a bit bruised so we have sent him for a scan; we think it’s the ligament. He trained outstandingly and then this happened. That’s not too good, but Lucas is back.”

Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart signs contract extension to 2020

The emerging Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart has signed a new contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2020.

The 22-year-old, who has made five appearances under Jürgen Klopp this season, committed his long-term future to the club on Tuesday when he signed a fresh four-year contract with the option of a fifth. Stewart’s previous deal expired at the end of this season but his development and breakthrough appearances this term have been rewarded with improved terms.

Stewart seized his opportunity to impress when recalled from a season-long loan at Swindon Town by Klopp before an injury-hit Liverpool’s visit to Exeter City in the FA Cup. The midfielder, who began his career in defence at Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, made his first-team debut in the third-round tie before producing excellent displays in the fourth round against West Ham United.

The boyhood Liverpool supporter is nursing an ankle ligament injury that is expected to keep him out for the next four to five weeks.

Brilliant news, I was surprised by how well he played after coming back in January but I think he's shown more than enough since then to suggest he can step up and be a good option in our squad.

I'm delighted for him.

This lad could be a very good player under Klopp. Seems to have really taken his chance well. Well in. Tex and Rossiter next although I'm not too confident on Tex.
I'd rather play for Liverpool Reserves than Everton.

Good news. He could be a really good option for us over the next few years. He's tough, loves a tackle, reads the game well and is perfectly decent on the ball (not amazing, but he's comfortable enough).

Klopp must see him as part of his plans also, I can't imagine he would have signed such a long contract otherwise. Of course, we're protecting ourselves for any sale as we would get a reasonable fee if he were to be sold but I think Klopp will give him a few chances and with some players away at the Euros this summer he and one or two others could well get a head start on the players who are away.

Was thinking the same thing, mate. The summer transfer window will be a very intriguing one with respect to the midfield. Stewart and Grujic? Who would have thought it three months ago?

Glad for Stewart. I like the kid a lot. Seems like he has the right mental constitution to make it. And he's pretty good at his job, too!

Great news.

Must have been a decent trainer as well to impress the manager and get an extension after a few games in the seniors.  Lets hope he kick on and have a great career here.
