Carra as assistant?

Well he's better than no assistant....

We need an experienced coach i feel Carra isn't that yet.

Wonder if this was a condition of him staying. Diminishing his power and bringing in personnel who can actually challenge him rather than simply be yes-men.

Or maybe he felt himself he needed these changes and suggested them at the meeting.

It's no good guessing!

Doubt Carra would come in.  Not that he wouldn't want to, but it's just that he's been critical of Rodgers in his current line of work.  Things probably would be a bit prickly.

René Meulensteen commented on how we lacked experience in the backroom last year, and we'd struggle in Europe.

Honestly, i'd do anything to get him in. He worked around Fergie for years, he knows how to win both in Europe and domestically. He has a winning mentality and we could do a lot worse.

He didn't work out as a #1, but seems a great #2. One of Moyes' biggest mistakes was binning him off

You'll get the odd joker saying that Rodgers has threw people under the bus, but this is what some were calling for on here. Clearly FSG have it as a condition for Rodgers staying in the job and perhaps want to see how he'll do with a FSG picked staff (hopefully more experienced and renowned), instead of his own team.

Agreed.  It would be ridiculous to replace experience for a club legend yet inexperienced coach.  I'd like to think we're making changes to bring in broader experience and talent, not just 'names'.

Seems really odd to me that Pascoe would go and not Rodgers too, are there many managers who've got rid of their assistants, they're usually superglued together

You really don't think they would have told him about this in the meeting?

Clearly he's lost some of the power he had from 2013/14 and FSG imposing their own conditions on him remaining in the job.

Or maybe he felt himself he needed these changes and suggested them at the meeting.

It's no good guessing!

It's a pretty big call to get rid of people you know and trust. He was the one who promoted Mike Marsh and has been with Pascoe for years. In an ideal world he'd keep them on in some capacity but to get rid of them completely - it's hard not to think this hasn't come from FSG.

Not sure why everyone is guessing who is making the decisions. For all any of us know these came from Rodgers himself.

There is no point putting on the tinfoil hat and throwing guesses out there.

Wow wasn't expecting that about Pascoe (if true). My worry is who is going to choose the next assistant and coach? Not sure whether it will be Rodgers who chooses. Will it be ayre?! Or god forbid, the fabled transfer committee?!! It would be interesting to learn who makes the footballing decisions at the club (apart from Rodgers).

Again, maybe he told Pascoe he was being demoted from No.2 and he wasn't happy. Maybe he felt he wasn't up to it at this level full stop. Maybe it was forced on him. Who knows.

It's pure guess work currently, and it's not that helpful.
