£9M is a pittance for such a quality player, but am happy for him that he gets to go and get more playing time. He was outstanding in the Euros. Am also happy that we're not selling another one of our special ones to PSG, who we could meet in the CL again. Best of luck, Big Shaq! Thanks for the lovely memories.  :wave

I thought he was great at Basel, really wanted us to sign him. Was disappointed when he went to Bayern, and again when he went to Inter. I couldn't work out the Stoke move given his quality. Was delighted when he joined us, and he's been great for us apart from his injuries.

Wishing him a lot of luck at Lyon.

So now,
Lyon Vs PSG will be the battle of the left footed wizards!

Xerdan, don´t worry about Gini scoring. Lightning never strikes twice, the Gini is out of the botle after Barca.
To win against PSG, just make sure you vigorously ruffle the hair of the greedy little left footed midget who plays in his team. Its his secret "off" switch, deactivates him completely, Robbo says.

Also, put in a good word to -you know who- at PSG :)

He is the sort of quality squad player that wins you titles. 5.or 10 goal involvements a season or something like that is invaluable for players not playing regularly. Always felt he wasn't quite tactically the right fit for us but he gave some great moments and brought a quality to our play when he was involved. Good luck to him

A mercurial player always capable of the absolutely sublime. He came with perhaps a slight reputation of maybe being a bit different attitude wise but I thought he really took to the club and has been very professional. The only regret was that he didn't get a few more opportunities with us. Like others have said, perhaps not the best fit for us tactically which limited him to an impact super sub.  I think he'll do well at Lyon, seems like a good club for him to go to. He'll also be crucial to Switzerland's World Cup bid and hopefully we can see him grace that tournament with his magic left foot. Leaves with very fond memories and a lot of good wishes for the future.

He played 556 league minutes last season and 185 the season before. That's under 9 league games' worth in 2 seasons. His lack of availability was a bigger problem than his tactical fit.

I wish him well and his contributions will always be fondly remembered. Good luck Power Cube!

Last season was really cruel on him. With almost all our good headers missing large parts of the season the height of the squad limited his appearances to a minimum. 820 minutes really is not enough for a player of his calibre.

Some great contributions - shame he couldn't stay fit more.

Regardless - really a great player - maybe not the precise fit for our system. But he was a great deal at the time - and we more or less are recouping our outlay (yeah it's a little less and we payed his wages for 3 season - but well worth it).

Good luck!

Incredibly surprised we lost money on him.

Anyway, cheers to him for the hilarity of having a hair transplant and coming back to preseason not allowed to head the ball.

Sad to see him leave but once again Klopp shows how much he values the individual wellbeing of his players by letting him go.

It's a shame. Really wanted to see him in midfield 3 for extended period but he wasn't quite the right fit. His quality on the the ball was undeniable. If Lyon find a home for him centrally and he stays fit this is gonna be a great bargain for them

7 goals and 5 assists in 3 seasons for us.

He’s been an important part of what’s been achieved in his time here and he’s made some hugely important contributions but his output is being a bit overstated because he’s a likeable player.

Wish him all the best and he’ll be fondly remembered.

Agreed but also because the quality of the output when it happened and it’s importance. Hasn’t scores or assisted much but when he did it really counted. Best of luck Shaq!

I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

Crucial assist for Gini's equaliser against Barca, double against the Mancs and a derby goal in the title winning season.

Deserves somewhere he can play consistently, highly technically gifted player who's still managed to stir up plenty of magical moments despite never nailing down a place in the team.

Wish him all the best!

I think one of his best individual moments for pure technique was his cross for Mo versus West Ham. Sometime forgotten but that goal was an outstanding goal and his first time cross was an outstanding part of it.
