Give us a chance to look at Owen Beck in the dead rubbers or league cup if Robbo's out for a spell. The boss will have to look after Tsimi, lot of games to play and I like that kid. Reminds me of a young Luke Shaw...before he went to Old Trafford.

Fingers crossed.

But no need to fret too much either. Two seasons ago an injury to Robbo would have shipwrecked us. But, right now, Tsimikas is superior. He really has been outstanding in practically every game he's played. I believe that the last time he played against Arsenal (for Olympiakos) he absolutely whacked them too.

Agree, he was on myside of the pitch and his desire, passion and quality was clear when he came on. Felt like he wanted to remind people to me too.

Yep. I would agree. I think Robbo's game has been to his usual standards but for some reason starting mid last season he cant get his cross past the first man. Weird given he is as good a crosser of the ball as you will see. Mental block maybe?. Anyway, sure it will come again.

Its not like he suddenly stopped giving as much of a shit as he used to. He just has looked exhausted.

Robbo has been below his best up to today. This is the best he's played in a while and it came after he had a rest which every player needs to have from time to time. I think Kostas deserved his chance and this was the time for him to have some games. But its good to see Robbo back to being near his best now.

I don't know what's more valuable, the competition or the ability to give him a rest, but we are far better off than last season either way.

Completely agree on all points!

It's like rawcusk8 said, though - people were bleating before the game about Robbo being picked, but we should all know by now to trust Klopp on this kind of thing. He wouldn't have picked Robbo if he was anything less than 100%. And the performance completely vindicated the selection.

Kostas will get plenty of opportunities to play this season so it's all good.

I think it's just important to manage Robbo's minutes as his international commitments have been heavy this year (his first summer tournament) and a World Cup qualifying campaign (with play offs in March). He's looked tired at times. We have two good left backs so are able to do that, last season he ended up playing pretty much throughout as Tsimikas had a lot of injury problems of his own and a tough first season,.

Klopp said himself the knock he picked up with Scotland was muscle fatigue and that fortunately it wasn't a strain or a tear.

Yeah. I actually criticised his crossing but I'm happy to be proved wrong. He made very incisive crosses and his decision making as to how to put it in was good.

He just doesn't stop running. He plays at 100% pace 100% of the time.

He was always coming back in when ready, as one or two of us here did point out

Even the best struggle at times, but you still bring them back as soon as you can.

It’s great have Tsimikas though of course, we are now spoilt in that position, and he’ll get his games. And he’ll keep Robbo on his toes.

Not necessarily about Kostas giving him a kick up the arse. It's getting the odd breather that's helped Robbo massively. Having Tsimikas there gives Robbo much needed rest time - if he was the only reasonable choice at left back, he'd be run into the ground.
