I think we should of kept him on as a coach at Liverpool when he left. Probably the best signing for Liverpool ever though and hope he does well.

He was offerered a coaching job, but wanted to keep playing. "Best signing ever" is pushing it for someone who never won the championship, but an excellent player.

Best signing since we won the title at the very least.

Schurrle would be stupid to go there. Even with his talent, he's not going to get any game time with all those players ahead of him.

Was on the same flight as Sami from Cologne to Manchester yesterday. Sound bloke, dead down to earth.

Nice one. D'ya get chatting to him then mate? Wonder what he makes of our current situation and Rodgers arrival.

Been doing great this season, 24 points after 13 games level on points with 3rd place Schalke & 4th place Frankfurt. Only team to beat Bayern so far this season and it was at the Allianz. Long may it continue  :scarf

Please note, this thread is not to undermine Rodgers as I believe he is more than capable of achieving our goals. This thread is about Sami, the Liverpool legend and wishing him luck at his current job.

Got some very good players in his squad including Schurrle, Lars Bender, Kießling, even Carvajal.

Great man who I can only assume brings the coolness he showed on the pitch to the management role he currently holds.
And all the world is football shaped, It's just for me to kick in space. And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste.

Is he even still their manager? I know he took over as caretaker last season but every team sheet i have seen this season names Lewandowski as manager.

Doing fantastic right now, beat Bremen 4-1 in the midweek and again today against Nurenburg 1-0.

Second in the league right now, 4 points ahead of Dortmund but the latter playing on less game.

Sami Hyypia, transition from great defender to consistent young manager.
« Reply #187 on: January 28, 2013, 05:56:16 pm »
Plucked from the Dutch league for a bargain £2.5m, he became a Liverpool legend winning a clutch of honours, and the rest they say is history.

After he retired he became an inexperienced manager for German club Bayer Leverkusen, playing an attractive type of football. Schooled by Houllier and Rafa in the art of defending and organisation, he has taken their brand of football and gave it his own twist.

Currently in 2nd place behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich and One point ahead of Champions Dortmund, operating on a very limited budget, could we see Big Sami grace the Premier League or La Liga? Could he even be a future Liverpool manager?

Current Record is very respectable;

He also won coach of the year award (in any sports) here in Finland in his first season as a manager. We really missed out when we couldn't keep him here and offer him a coaching job in our organisation. I'd love to see him manage Liverpool one day.

I seem to recall Hodgson offered him a coaching role but he refused because he still wanted to play for another year.

Been following the Bundesliga this season and Hyypia and Bayer have been fantastic. If he keeps the form that he had before the winter break then Bayer could secure 2nd place with ease. Bayern will run away with the title but Dortmund have been inconsistent as have Schakle and E. Frankfurt, so if he can secure 2nd place and champions league football then i think we will be hearing alot more of the Manager Sammi Hyypia.

Sami swerved the Hodgson Bullet ;)

I can easily see him coming back here as a manager all in good time though of course, all in good time.

Let us watch and admire and flirt with him and tease him and flash a leg or more now and then and when he's about to peak, steal him from Whomever FC ;)
