I wanted them to stay up but they have been an absolute joke for the last few years. When Gold and Sullivan came in I remember there being talk of West Ham going after Henry, Beckham, Cole etc., and they've followed that up with Keane and Bridge. Wtf! If you're in a relegation battle (as they were last year as well) the last thing you need are past-it marquee players.
Then the shambles of appointing Avram Grant who had just finished bottom with Portsmouth. We talked about managers being a right 'fit' for a club when Mr 36 years experience was with us, I think considering that West Ham are a passionate lot (sometimes superficially I think) an Uncle Fester look-a-like with as much passion and charisma as a comatose turtle was never going to work. Oh and what a master-stroke it was to turf out Steve Clarke in the process.
Then you've got the whole undermining of the manager by going behind his back and stopping just short of picking up a magaphone and taking to the streets of East London announcing that Martin O'Neill's taking over. I think they should have got rid of Grant around Christmas time (we've seen ourselves the impact a change in manager can have) but they completely ballsed it up, ended with so much egg on their faces that they tied their own hands together.
I think moving to the Olympic Stadium with a great big running track is only going to end horribly wrong as well. After what we've been through with owners it's not nice to see other clubs being run so badly (unless it all goes tits up at the Mancs of course) and I feel sorry for the fans of clubs like West Ham, Portsmouth and Leeds before them etc.
Anyway, it's a shame that a club stupid enough to probably have come in for Joe Cole won't be able to now
