Heads-up for LFC fans in the U.S. northwest
« on: March 1, 2012, 01:26:43 am »
We're hearing lots of rumors that there may be a Liverpool/Chelsea friendly at CenturyLink in Seattle, probably on July 18th.  Apparently, the Plastics have said they'll be playing someone here and, during a tryout of the new scoreboard at CLink, reporters noticed that they were testing displays of the LFC crest, which would be odd to use to test out a video board at an MLS stadium unless they knew something that hadn't been announced yet...   ;D

July 18th is plausible in Seattle

I reckon LFC will be in Fenway Park the weekend of July 28th.

If you have the time, take the train from California. Use the free internet to pass the time.

The Seattle train station is a short walk to the stadium. Find a place in the city center to stay. And have some seafood at Ivars by the pier.  8)

What happened to the rumours of Yankee Stadium hosting a game as well? Am in NYC, so I'll definitely go up to Fenway but it would be cool to have one here as well.
Games I've been to: 2011/2012 - Wolves (h), Man Utd (h), QPR (h), Villa (a), Wigan (a), Newcastle (h), Man City (a)
2012/2013 - Spurs (Friendly), Norwich (h)
2013/2014 - Newcastle (h)
2014/2015 - Olympiakos (friendly), Man City (friendly)
Not bad for an American eh?

Northwest native myself, if anyone is in town for this i can give you my contact details if your looking for a tour guide or someone to have a few beverages with. I live about a 30 minute walk and train/bus ride away. Also a Sounders season ticket holder, Seattle is definitely the Footy capital of the United States.

The 11th street bar shows every match live. Should be open around 7:15am if I remember correctly. Not sure if I will be able to make it though.

SRS507 is right, but could be open earlier as the bar needs time to set up. If you're out and about the night before and just want to come straight to the bar, the crew will let you in even if they're not set up.

If you want to find us, we're usually at the top end of the bar near the entrance close to the banner. A few of us RAWK members there.

Hopefully they have a game in NYC, Philly, or D.C. in addition to the Boston one.  Either of them would be closer to me than Boston, and I have a feeling the Boston game will be impossible to get tickets to (unless there's another in the northeast).

I shall have to seek you guys out then, I am there for most matches (though I normally stand/sit at the far end of the bar away from the door).

Would work beautifully for me if it happened. My sister just moved there for work so I'll have a place to stay as well. If it does happen, all the RAWKites are meeting for a piss-up, right? However, if it happened in Boston, I think I'm still making the trip.

4pool, I remember vaguely you talking about a LFC convention of sorts also over this summer? Am I remembering that right? Any updates?

Nope. It was an idea I had.

As for the city list for the summer tour.....nothing concrete other than Boston and Fenway Park.

Looks like it's Chelsea v Seattle Sounders and not LFC on July 18th.

RENTON , Wash. - Seattle Sounders FC will host Chelsea FC, winners of five major English titles in the past five seasons, Saturday, July 18, at Xbox Pitch at Qwest Field, it was announced today. Kickoff is set for 12 noon pacific time and the match will be televised live on ESPN2.

Stay tuned for where LFC really play this summer.

Yeah, after all the LFC/Plastics rumors I was hearing a couple of months ago, this is a definite letdown.   I mean, the Sounders played C.h.e.l.$.k.i three years ago, so why bring back the same opponent all over again?  Well, that's one friendly I'll be missing...
