Luis Garcia, Liverpool legend. And Fernando Torres, footnote in our illustrious history.

I'm seething about his 'big club' comments as a Liverpool supporter, but I'd be equally as pissed of if I was an Atletico supporter - the club who raised him.

Clearly their history didn't rub off on him either in all of this and I doubt they'd be proud of him making those comments.

to be fair, this is lost in translation slightly. he's not saying he wasn't at a big club before. doesn't look too happy if you ask me and if I was Chelsea fan I'd be disappointed with the line 'one of the biggest clubs in Europe'

Mods, let's do as a fellow poster said eearlier and move any Torres stuff to General football - I think it would help us all get over it

Atleast when he left Atletico he looked genuinely sad and he was talking about the fans he left etc, but not even a mention of us. Wtf?

Utter disrespect, a kick in the teeth for the fans who've given him unconditional love and support for 3 and a half years, justifying the poor performances with the most ridicullous of excuses. Wonder what he's actually like off the pitch. How much of his 'personality' was genuine, and how much was PR.

Yes, ITs a huge loss, but....it's also bringing the worst side of us..... he's a world cup player...he's top player, he should have....respected us atleast with a letter like kuis Garcia...but you know what, the burning of those torres shirts, has probably, suggested Torres doesn't want to ....even consider this team anymore...

You know what, it actually made me angry watching that Torres interview for Chelsea TV; it just stunk. Even now we build footballers up as heroes in the hope that they might actually be a Dalglish, a Fowler - a Charlton, a Giggs. And yet the modern day player is just... hollow. Big club? Chelsea a big club? They're merely Chelsea who won the lottery. What's he gonna do if he scores against United... peel away with a clenched fist? Would irritate massively when he'd hold up five fingers in your shirt but that's what football was all about... rivalry... passion... and so it was somewhat refreshing; you can almost allow a wry smile when seeing opposition players do what you'd love to see your own do if the boot was on the other foot. Gives you hope in footballers. But there's little hope and it is now time to universally accept it.

Luis Garcia, Xabi Alonso, Arbeloa, even Babel. Torres is in a different league in terms of class judging by the last 4 days. Wonder if Rafa's a bit ashamed of what some consider his protege. If he is, he shouldn't be. This is a cuntish streak that he's kept remarkably well hidden from the fans who idolised him, stupid fucking fans like me.
