I got a thread locked before but we have to face facts: we are essentially a second tier club or atleast in the mezzanine between 1st and 2nd. Utd., Chelsea, Real, Barca, Inter, AC: these are the world's biggest clubs. I reckon we're on par with Juventus.

I can see what the papers were talking about when they said he's not the easiest person to get on with off the pitch. he must be an actual twat in every day life, everything else was a show
Fascinating, though, to see the mask fall so completely and for him to be revealed. He was always so "composed" and careful with his public image and seemed too good to be true. Now he's shown himself for what he is. Amazing how far and fast he has fallen. Looks like hell in that video too. Be very interesting to see how this plays out. I don't think it's going to be the dream move he is claiming.

Jesus, calm down. English isn't his first language. Think the level of intent RE: what he said is being grossly exaggerated. All this "Why does he hates us so much?" bollocks is based on what exactly? Some fairly bland quotes in halting English that are just confirming (to his new employers) that he's happy to be there? What's he supposed to say, "I'm fucking miserable"?

We all feel a bit sick, but he's not Satan incarnate.

I really hoped he done well before seeing that video, deep down. You can't go to close bromance to hatred just because a player wants to leave from. However the way he talks about my Liverpool with out mentioning them, Karma will strike. Maybe next week, year or decade but one day life will even out you horrible bastard. Fucking gutted hearing that. Was hard enough knowing he had moved on, to Chelsea! This had made it all easier. I'm ashamed of myself to think you was a decent lad. You are a fucking rat. Why not thank everything this club has done for you and it's fans. Rafa am sorry for your prodigy to turn out like this. Can't wait for next season now!

As someone has written on youtube - and apologies if it's been repeated to death today, ala John Terry and Howard Webb jokes - at least Paul Konchesky left us for a European Cup winner.

We won trophies before you, we won nothing with you, and I'm sure we'll win plenty more in your wake.

Ambrosia: honestly, I think he's had a breakdown. I think he realises his world cup medal is a fraud. He feels his pace going. He does blame Liverpool for lies and broken promises. And its come to a head and snapped at just the wrong moment, when things were actually changing.

Maybe JL is right and its all PR. But he looks 'wrong' to me and in retrospect has done for a while.

He wouldn't be the first superstar footballer who couldn't deal with it mentally.
I haven't a clue what a mental breakdown is meant to look like, but this isn't the Torres we know.

It's like he's had a personality transplant. He's either a sociopath or a brilliant actor.  Or maybe like you said he's had a breakdown.

Whatever it is, i hope he spectacularly fails at Chelsea.

I don't see anything to get worked up about in that interview (i've seen the youtube link is all)  :o

Surely it is just all the normal  platitudes  and cliches of an "unveiling" interview - he doesn't even particularly  mention liverpool, and why would he in that context?

Little does he know, he's left the Beatles and joined fucking Razorlight.

I saw the interview just now and it fucking made me madder!

It confuses me that he thinks Chelsea is a "step-up". I think hes been living in a deluded world for quit a while and now its coming out.

But what really hurts is that after all he said, pretending to be one of us etc, he can just turn his back on us and not believe in the club anymore or in what Kenny and FSG are now doing.

We bought him a strike partner, got rid of the supposed medics who fucked him over, changed managers twice to appoint a man he said was his "hero" and still he decides to turn his back on us.....after the love and support we gave him.

Well fuck you.

Guys, none of the break his legs shite, no matter how angry or upset you are. It's undignified and bitter. We're better than that - massively.

He has proved himself to be absolutely selfish, regardless of his motives. Best we can do, is just move on, and while he is a rival, treat him as such. He doesn't deserve our respect either, but nor our vitriol.

Compare what Torres said to what Babel put on his twitter (in the Babel thread) - and we thought one had class and the other was a bit of a soft lad.

See you Torres, you've found your level.

Liverpool will move on, and we'll have great fun on Sunday. Carra should be back, bet he's itching to get on the pitch.  (And just a couple of days ago most of us backed Torres over Carra. Funny how things turn out.)

From an average La Liga player with potential, Rafa and the support of the fans made him into a Superstar.

Pure PR that's all I can say about Torres, turned out self image is what he was all about, from his Autobiography that related to the fans and made us feel he was one of us and got us to his "I feel like Liverpool is my english team, I could never play for another one".

The only player i've ever really idolised was Fowler, I just feel sorry for the young reds and the ones who idolised him and really looked up to him. They won't know now how hurtful his words are but everyone else will now know what an ungrateful t*** he is.
