Think he’s good enough to be a squad player and get some games off the bench when we’re struggling to break down a team. The lad doesn’t lack confidence or ability.

I rate him highly, but he's first team ready now and he seems way down the pecking order. 5 months of senior football would be good for him and then if we want we can make room in the squad for him next season.

I was impressed with Jones when he came on.  Another scouser coming through. We're very lucky.  I hope he gets more minutes.

Jones looked at home in the middle. We seemed to push on when he arrived on the park. Some lovely one touch passes.

Definitely felt he changed the game when he came on - he was putting in the performance I expected from Naby Keita.

Think it's a big jump to playing minutes in the first team against better opposition but I trust the Management to judge it and do what is best for him. He looks like such a great talent.

Not seen much of him prior to the Milton Keynes game, but he impressed me then and did last night. Fantastic prospect, he's at the best club and got the best set up around him to succeed.

Did I read in the summer that it was Jones himself who turned down opportunities to go out on loan because he wanted to stay here and develop and try and get some minutes in the cups? Fair enough. If he thinks he can make ground on the first team players by staying here and training with them every day and being developed by the likes of Klopp and Lijnders, then that’s fine. If he’s applying himself to his development day to day the same way he would do to games if he went out on loan, then great. He’s been around the first team for a while now so I hadn’t released that he’s still 18. Will be interesting to see what the club and he decide in January but I’m looking forward to seeing more of him in both domestic cup competitions.

Said before the game I felt he was unlucky not to start. A loan may well be the best option for the second half of the season, get a consistent run of games somewhere at a level above the U21s.

Would probably agree. That said, I think he’ll be kept on while Keita struggles with injury

Between the League Cup, FA cup and Club WC he could get 5-6 games in the next 3 months.

After pre season last year I had doubts that he would be good enough to make it here. Seems a different player to me this season. Stronger, more confident both in himself and on the ball, having more impact in games. Really hope he can make the breakthrough in the next year or two.

I dont know him as well as others but from what I've seen he needs to play in the middle'he doesnt have the pace to be out wide in our system-

He's good enough to start for a good championship team or lower tier premier league side but he needs to play in the middle of the park

I agree.

Any League Cup game, any FA Cup game, hopefully the 6th CL group game, 1st World Cup Championship game.

That's at least 4 games and possibly more that the likes of Jones could play. Also when we get into the hectic December schedule I think we may see the odd youngster on the bench.

I'd be keeping Jones until the very end of the January window before making a decision on a loan until the end of the season.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Sumptuous pass with plenty of disguise on it - certainly deceived the Arsenal defence.  Put it another way - it was so unexpected that he would send the pass in that direction Mustafi went the right way  :D :D

He's only 18  :rollseyes 19 in Jan:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_Jones_(footballer)

Also it looks like he's been through the England system which is good news for his development:

Jones has represented England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level.

Very exciting prospect.

In the two games I’ve seen him play he’s reminded me a bit of Coutinho.  Very impressed with him and Elliot.  Could have two very creative midfield superstars of the future there.  Throw in Trent when he gets moved into midfield in a couple of years and jobs a goodun for the next ten years.  😀

I really don't get the obsession with moving Trent to midfield.

As for Jones, I'm sure the club will make the right decision over his immediate future and whether or not that includes a loan move or not, I think we all back them 110% to make the right call.

i think Neco Williams is as big prospect as those two... he was great against Arsenal, could be used as competition for TAA in future.
